My husband & I stayed at Monte Bianco recently & I am disappointed to say that I would give this hotel 0 stars. We booked through Air bnb for a two night stay. From the photos & reviews we saw before booking (which appeared very decent) I was horrified to see the condition of our room in person. We stayed in room 6.
At first glance, the front door was completely dry rotted. At second glance, the carpet was a nightmare. Filthy & covered in stains. The bed, although small, seemed clean enough but was extremely uncomfortable. Upon our arrival, we were in a rush to drop our things off & head back out to meet up with our family for a reunion. We made it very quick dropping our belongings off & aside from the first observations I didn’t look around in too much detail. We arrived back late at night & got ready for bed. The next morning my husband woke up early & showered. He did not turn the bathroom light on since it was very early. After he got out he said how horrible the shower was & said that the water coming out felt like shards of glass hitting his back. I got out of bed, went into the bathroom to freshen up & this is when I really noticed the condition of the bathroom. As I was brushing my teeth the sink was filling up with water & not draining. As I am looking around I notice a bunch of black stuff all over the walls, around the toilet, in the shower, on the ceiling, in the window sill. I took some toilet paper & wipe some of it off the walls to discover that the black stuff was MOLD!!! This is when panic set in. At this point I started looking at every detail of the room- noticing how filthy it actually was. Spider webs in the light fixture on the ceiling in the bathroom, which was also half dangling off the ceiling. NO shower head.
Dust all over the coffee machine. The carpet was something out of a horror movie. Definitely did not let our bare feet touch it. My husband & I decided quickly that we would not be staying another night in the room. We got on our phone to message the air bnb host ASHLEY to let her know the condition of the room & how we felt that the pictures & description was completely misleading. We sent her numerous photos of the mold, the shower, the spider weds, dust, all of it. We let her know that we wouldn’t be staying the second night & asked for a refund. Her response to us was “I will have to go & see the room for myself” & that she wasn’t wiling to refund us for the first night since we stayed but would refund for the second night. We explained that we only stayed the first night since we got back so late & didn’t notice the filth in detail until the next morning. I don’t know about you guys, but when I book a room, I don’t initially go around & inspect for mold upon arrival. Our first impression was that the room was not at all how it was portrayed in the air bnb listing. But we were willing to hack it for the weekend since we mainly were just going to be sleeping there. The room didn’t need to be fancy, just decent enough for a weekend. After several messages back & forth with the host, we packed up immediately & left. Drove over the the Summit hotel downtown & booked a lovely room for the remainder of our trip. This cost us $250 out of pocket. Monte Bianco was $150 per night. Not cheap. After sending the host Ashley, several photos she completely stopped replying to us. The whole day went by, then the whole next day went by & still zero response from her about the status of our refund & not a single apology for the inconvenience & condition of the room. I sent a few follow up messages that went without reply. Finally I got frustrated & sent another follow up message, in which the host Ashley replied “please stop texting me”. I was completely shocked at the unprofessional & rudeness of her message. There was zero follow up or accountability on her end. I have never experienced such unprofessionalism before.
After telling her that there was mold all over the bathroom I expected at least an apology of some kind. It was very apparent that the room #6 had not been cleaned or maintained.
