Gabe and Ty were so hospitable, patient, and friendly. They really went the extra mile to show us places they loved, history about the surrounding area, and safely captained us through icy waters and swimming otters. We weren’t sure what to expect, so the useful email information beforehand, fantastic hosting skills, and welcome dinner recommendations carved Whittier a special place in our hearts.

Fantastic boat tour to view different glaciers! Meghan and Thai were great guides, taking the time to find the best views and spot any wildlife out and about. The drive through the tunnel and history of Whittier is also super interesting. Highly recommend!

Our guides were fun and full of both natural and local knowledge. Lots of great stories. We saw an amazing amount of wildlife: humpback whale, sea otter, stellar sea lion, puffin, seal, AND a pod of traveling orcas which swam with in feet of the boat! We also watched glaciers calve, if you haven’t heard the sound of glacier ice crashing into the sea you must add this to your bucket list. They easily accommodated our whole family of 16 for this perfect trip! The communication before hand was also exceptional.

Lazy Otter Charters offered us a fun filled afternoon exploring Whittier and the Blackstone Glacier! Our crew was fantastic and very educational. A great opportunity to spot some wild life - sea otters, sea lions, eagles, etc. Definitely recommend!

This coffee shop was the highlight of our visit to Whittier. Not that Whittier is anything to sneeze at, but the young man behind the counter, Ty was the friendliest person I met on my whole Alaska trip. His adorable laid-back demeanor combined with an attitude of genuine care and concern for the well-being of others inspired us to linger longer, soaking in the stories and asking for travel tips. He spoke as though a lifetime friend, casual and easy. We did the hike he recommended, and it was fantastic (Portage Glacier trailhead). The pastries, drinks, and views that the shop offered were all made better by Ty's service. I highly recommend stopping in for a beverage and a snack when you are in Whittier, and tell Ty I said hello.

INCREDIBLE folks to work with. We visited in late August of 2024 and booked a small craft for just our group. The boat had a mechanical problem the day before and they worked all night long into the next day to fix the problem. They worked up to the last minute and got everything fixed. Outstanding communication from the owners on the status of the boat during the whole process. We were able to go on our tour and we couldn't have been happier. Jen was our pilot and what a superb professional she was. She had a vast array of knowledge of the area and wildlife and made the trip one to remember for a lifetime. If you don't want to be disappointed, book with Lazy Otter. If you are super lucky, you too will be privileged to have Jen as your Captain.

This is a fantastic operation. Kelly had to make some customized plans for us as our group did not fill up as planned. We spent the day in Prince William Sound with the best captain ever. Jen did a fabulous job. We got to see some salmon hatcheries on a pick up shuttle, lots of wildlife, an amazing glacier, and a private walk on a secluded beach. What a unique adventure we had and we are super happy. Jenny was very informative and we learnt a lot about Prince William Sound.

Unfortunately our tour was canceled due to the weather, but they were the only place that offered October tours that we could find. I was thankful that they choose safety over profit! We did still stop in and explore their little shop and bought some yummy Chowder. Coffee was a miss though. It was very bitter.
