We recently enjoyed an 11-day New England family cruise with ACL, and the experience has been excellent so far. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The cruise caters to an older crowd, which is reflected in the room features, such as a medical emergency button and ample drawer space for clothing. Each room offers a view and a balcony, providing a spacious and comfortable environment. The food is well-served, fresh, and beautifully presented. With only 170 passengers on a smaller ship, there are no long lines like on larger cruises.
However, the trade-off is fewer amenities and higher costs. By the end of the trip, it feels like living in a small town where everyone knows each other. The staff, mostly U.S. employees, work long hours and handle various roles, unlike other lines with international crews. If you prefer a more intimate experience without large crowds and enjoy exploration, this cruise line is a great choice.

Took a Lower Mississippi River Cruise from Memphis to New Orleans in April 2024. This was my first river cruise as a solo passenger. Airfare and hotel was included as well as all meals. I was blown away by the staff, meals, room and amenities provided. Land excursions were excellent, some were complimentary and others were at an extra cost. I was extremely happy with the ones I had picked. A big shout out to Princess in housekeeping, Thania-Housekeeping Manager who helped change my room (I was under the River Lounge where there was nightly entertainment), Colin the Cruise Director who kept us informed of excursions and Mark the Excursions Director who made sure we all got on the right buses and all the staff who greeted us when we got back to the ship. Another Thank You to the chef for accommodating my picky eating. Thania also helped me book my next cruise for next year to Alaska. High marks for this senior, no kids cruise line.

My wife, Sharon, and I had a great time on our trip down the Upper Mississippi. All the staff were great and really took good care of us. The ride and venues were great! Our only problem was the morning after arriving at our hotel the breakfast was supposed to be free. It wasn’t but my vacation advisor called ACL and the took care of it

I was glad to see the American Eagle cruise ship gliding down the St. Johns River. I took this photo in Jacksonville, Florida, on February 10, 2025, near San Marco and Riverside neighborhoods.

I enjoy cruising with American Cruise Lines so much that I've now cruised with them five times, plus one with their sister cruise line, Pearl Seas Cruises.

I really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere on these small cruise ships, cruising close to home. No passport... no jet lag! I especially like that the crew members are Americans. No accents!

When I'm on vacation, the last thing I want to do is to dress up for dinner or to see a show. So, I especially like the very casual style of a cruise with ACL.

I was very fortunate to be able to sail on the next generation of American Cruise Lines ships. I did an 8-day cruise along the coast of May in September of 2023 on their newest ship, American Eagle. This is the first of 12 new ships that ACL will be bringing out over the next few years, and they've made several nice improvements over the previous generation of ships. One of my favorite things is the new viewing deck at the very front of the ship. I spent hours and hours up there, enjoying the views as we sailed. Also, the restaurant has an entirely new design compared to their other ships... providing a more cozy, intimate dining experience.

I never would have done a second cruise with ACL if I hadn't enjoyed the first... so, the fact that I've now done six should tell you a lot!

I am a licensed commercial drone pilot... so, I am attaching a few aerial shots I took of the ship, as well as a few shots of scenic places we saw along the coast of Maine.

Our cruise on the new American Eagle along the coast of Maine was terrific! The ship is lovely and our cabin was bright and roomy. The crew went out of their way to provide personal service. Yes, American Cruise Lines caters to older travelers, but we prefer the relaxation of a smaller ship to the mega-ships with literally thousands of passengers.

We recently booked and went on a Lower Mississippi River Cruise on the American Splendor. It went from New Orleans to Memphis. What a fantastic cruise and a great time was had by all! The ports of call were great and there were plenty of options for daily excursions and activities. If you were bored, it was your own fault. The ship was great and the crew and staff were so accommodating. Everyone was so friendly and nice. The food and meals were fantastic and there was plenty of it. Free beer, wine and spirits! Our cruise director Fernando was so much fun and second to none! Thanks to everyone and we would definitely do it again! The trip is highly recommended!

We recently took our first cruise with ACL to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We were on the new American Serenade. We are experienced Ocean cruisers and enjoy long cruises, so we weren't sure what to expect. From beginning to end, the customer service was amazing. The company included a hotel stay in Chattanooga the night before. We were delighted with our large cabin, the food, the entertainment, and our excursions at each port. Everything was included. They even made a special meal for our anniversary night. The service onboard was great. We have booked with the company again. Thank you ACL.
