This hotel is absolutely disgusting.. The heater fell apart when I tried to turn on the heat. We had to sleep with no heat and it was like 20 outside . The microwave looks like it one of the first ones ever made. Room smelled old and smelled like smoke even though we got a non-smoking room. TV is outdated ,bathroom was disgusting. Towels were very dingy . The hallways were freezing . Doors don’t lock , only had a chain . This hotel needs to be taken over by someone else because it has a lot of potential rooms are really big . Ugh ..

BLUF: toilet didn't work, poor and dishonest customer service, poor quality rooms

I picked this room because it was reasonably priced for the location. We had a event to attend to last night/ this morning. The pictures of the rooms were nice but not at all what we received. I wasnt expecting big brand accommodations so when I noticed the broken microwave door, cigarettes in the sink, the whirlpool tub not working, and the damage to around the tub, i was still willing to give it a change. The baby crib provided was dirt so we couldn't use that as well. This issue comes when basic needs are not met. We checked in the hotel changed for the event and headed out upon returning around midnight we realized the toilet was not working. We asked if someone could fix it and was told nobody was able to assist. We then asked to move rooms but they told us they were fully booked so we had to check out 9 hrs of earlier than what we intended to do. We requested a refund but the hotel denied the request saying we stayed the whole time with no issue which is a complete lie. Will not stay here again and would not recommend.

When we arrived the guy was asleep. The rooms were super warm. Only plus is its close to the casino so we put the ac on before we went. Shower was dirty. It was really late when i decided to shower so we didnt complain (We just got back from casino). But there was someone elses dirty soap in stuff in both corners of the shower. Cleaely whoever cleans doesnt know how: we paid a lot more than what i see it is right now. For the price we paid, definitely not worth it.

This place is absolutely disgusting. DO NOT STAY HERE. Filthiest place I've ever stayed at. Do not trust the other reviews as the are most likely fake. This place had unlocked access to the floors from outside... anybody could gain access to your room. Very dangerous. The place is so unkept it should operate as a hourly rate motel that costs .50 cents an hour. The smells throughout the rooms and "Inn" will initiate a gag reflex and you will wish for fresh air immediately. If you like random stickiness and dead bugs this is your place. Horrifying experience. You have been warned.

The Gold Star should be a No Star . On a positive point the layout was very nice and spacious . However the room needs some TLC and is very outdated . There are several holes in the walls and the closet door was broken. The tiles surrounding the jacuzzi were broken and cracked so badly that I cut my toe when stepping out of it . TVs are old and the picture is not clear . Handle on the microwave is broken and the kitchen doesn’t drain . There is no coffee in the morning or coffee pot in the rooms for guests to use . Basically there is a whole kitchenette but the cabinets are all empty . The hallways are hot and stuffy and there is no ventilation at all .There is alot of potential but some serious maintenance is needed . This is not at all worth what we paid to stay here . I will not be returning .

I honestly can't give this hotel one star. It was absolutely filthy from the light switches to the toilet paper holder that had two different types of putty holding it together with dirt, not even sure if it was feces. Our bed had two sheets over it and not even a fitted sheet , with a old blood stain underneath the sheet. There weren't any mattress covers. The light blanket that covered the top sheet which was loose and had several black and brown stains on it. There were multiple cigarettes burn marks on the carpet. The hallways smelled like mold, I can't even explain how dirty they were. There was a hotel guest that was walking aimlessly up and down the hallways at 1:00 in the morning in her bathrobe with her eyes were rolling back in her head. I think that this hotel has something to do with a crack house . We had booked this hotel due to the conversation we had with the management, they stated that it was clean , neat and orderly, they stated that the sheets were clean and everything was updated in working order.The towels were yellow and stained. I slept in my clothes worried that I would encounter bed bugs. My first phone call Monday morning is to the health inspector in Groton Connecticut. Somebody should definitely check out the staff who bring their children to help them clean. As I walked by the cleaning cart none of the containers for cleaners had any product in it. The microwave in our room didn't have a handle and our bedroom window was open, and we were unable to shut it because the lever was broken. One more thing, the toilet backed up when flushed, smelling like sewage in the room. I'm horrified and hope that they are forced to sanitize this hotel.

The cigarette in the shower was the icing on the cake. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. TOOTHPASTE ON THE WALLS, FILTHY LIGHT SWITCHES, DOORS THAT DON'T SHUT PROPERLY.... YOU CALL AND MAKE A COMPLAINT AND THESE PEOPLE HAVE NO CARE ON MAKING IT RIGHT. CHARING PEOPLE TOP DOLLAR FOR FILTH.

Gold Star isn’t fancy and could definitely use some improvements (paint, wall repairs, etc), however, it is in great location between the Navy Base and Mystic. There are many things to do, places to eat, etc, within minutes. This is a bargain hotel and, for the money, it is a great place. The family who runs it are very wand took good care of our needs while we were here.
