I write this as a distressed individual who once received solar and support at the house of bread. Recently, however, the warm and welcoming atmosphere has been replaced by a culture of rudeness and dismissiveness. I have found myself along with friends and countless others on the receiving end of disrespectful treatment by staff. Sadly, the unfair treatment doesn’t stop at disrespect. Some Individuals like myself are even banned from accessing meals here.
Behind this once friendly façade, countless individuals have experienced distressing encounters, such as harsh words that have driven them to tears, poor service, and the constant fear of getting banned by the lady of the day shelter. These hardships only add to the struggles that we are already maneuvering in every day life. This is a place that should provide comfort and support not instill fear and humiliation.
The house of bread is more than just a place for meal. It is a sanctuary for many individuals like myself. Who are battling daily challenges and we deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. We need a safe and caring environment where we are seen as humans rather than another person to feed. I pray that the house of bread restores. its original place that welcomes all without prejudice and disrespect.

There's really not a whole lot you can say about a soup kitchen, but I'll fill you in as much as I can.
First things first, YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE A FACE MASK ON, UNLESS YOU'RE EATING,(OBVIOUSLY RIGHT?). ALSO THE MASK KINDA HELPS WITH SOME OF THE B.O. YOU'LL MORE THAN LIKELY ENCOUNTER, BUT NOT ALWAYS!!!
There is hand sanitizer for you to use while you're waiting in line for your turn.
They do keep it clean and tidy in there, I will say that!
The food is pretty good most of the time,( you can't please every body, all the time)!
Their pasta sauce is very good also.
But in my opinion, breakfast is when they really shine, and do their best meal, especially Sunday mornings!!
But the coffee could use a little work( sorry!) Just being truthful, nothing personal at all!l
But all and all, I do recommend that you at least try it there at least once! I think you'll be glad you did! Take care now, every body!!
