I've stayed here on visits to the New Haven area a couple of times before, but not for several years. On this latest visit it was mostly as I remembered it. My room was spacious, clean and mostly quiet (except on New Year's Eve, of course). Staff members were pleasant and helpful. The physical layout is appealing, with a large lobby and well-maintained pool and fitness center. ||However, there are signs of cost-cutting around the place. Hall carpets are badly worn, buckled in places (a tripping hazard), and really needing replacement. Hampton Inns are supposed to have on-site stores for refreshments and necessities, but there was almost nothing in stock. The included breakfast had three great waffle makers but otherwise not much choice, especially as far as the breads and pastries were concerned. Finally, during a six-night stay I got housekeeping service exactly once, at which my two bath towels were replaced with one (I did get two clean ones a couple of days later, but no additional housekeeping). My stay overall was pleasant enough, but right now this establishment seems content with doing the bare minimum.

Stayed here for two nights while visiting New Haven. The location is fantastic, as is the staff. The man who checked us in was talkative, helpful and very kind. The folks running breakfast have the patience of saints; breakfast itself is fine. Staff even let us check out late while we waited for car repairs after breaking down the night before our departure (if this happens to you, the Firestone across the street is top notch). However, the building itself is not well-maintained. While swimming in the pool, one of the underwater lights fell out of the wall, with its exposed wires in the pool water. Their front door is broken with a sign saying so. The second and third floor ice machines weren’t working; the second floor machine was covered in mold and smelled of human urine. Wallpaper is peeling along baseboards throughout the building. Piles of trash sat outside other guests’ doors for over 12 hours each day of our stay. Thankfully, our rooms were very clean. I appreciate them prioritizing room cleanliness while obviously short-staffed. I would stay here again if passing through for a single night on a road trip, but not for a multiple night stay.

This Hampton Inn definitely fell a few notches below what I’ve come to expect from the chain. I’m pretty loyal to Hilton but If you’re in the area, stay somewhere else.
Room felt somewhat updated, but didn’t really feel clean or prepared - there were hairs on my bathroom floor and on the bed spread, there was no bath mat, the batteries in RV remote control were dead.
The hallways in the hotel were lot vacuumed and the gym felt literally beat up - the bike on the exercise screen was shattered by what looks like a guest punching it multiple times.
The staff was nice.

I am staying here Friday for a children’s biblical retreat I have called maybe 10 times asking a thousand questions.. and every time I get Pia … what a wonderful representation for quality customer service! She is the reason I chose to book .. I made my first call and she was so pleasant and every time I call she never loses her patience with me ! She speaks highly of the hotel and has assured me the staff that works there are always kind! I can’t wait to experience this location but so far just simply on the support I’ve received this is 5 stars for me ! I will do another review with an update! Also I didn’t see the rooms in person but online they seem great ! With an indoor pool and free breakfast I’m sure the kids will have a blast ! Thank you Pia and Team for just being great

This hotel is perfect for a quick stay while traveling. Room was clean and breakfast was great. I had forgotten my iPad at the hotel and we were traveling for a week before I could pick it up, Nick stored it safely for me and I got it back no problem! Staff is excellent!

I recently stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites New Haven - West Haven. I checked in on a Saturday and originally planned to leave on Monday. I spoke with the front desk receptionist (cannot remember her name) and she confirmed I was able to cancel my Sunday nigh without penalty. I made the arrangements and then came down to check out. During that time, she said the system would not allow her to make changes to the reservation, even though I had not pre-paid. She wrote a note and recommended I call back the next day. On Monday, I called and was met with a front desk attendant named John. He was not helpful and said he couldn't make the changes and that he would transfer me to the manager. I left a voicemail for the manager who did not pick up. I tried calling another number and was redirected back to John. I asked him if the manager was in that day and he said, "No." I asked him when would be the best time to reach the manager and he said Tuesday morning. I told him he could have told me that the first time and he said, "You could have asked that." I found that extremely unprofessional. If you were sending someone to the manager's phone but you know they aren't there, but the best time to reach them is in the morning, wouldn't you just say that? I have no problem calling at the most convenient time, but I found his "Well, you didn't ask that" approach to be very petty. I will not return here due to his responses. I did end up receiving the refund and when I called to confirm, I spoke with a really helpful woman named Tia. She was professional and thoughtful. Thank you, Tia, for your help.

We went for 2 nights this weekend and had no issues. Easy check in and great customer service at front desk. Clean and comfy rooms and bed. Breakfast was good and plenty to eat and breakfast man was very kind and got us whatever we needed.
Everything was conveniently located on this street. Texas roadhouse and Dunkin can be walked to and Walmart is across street. Star bucks in 1-2 min away by car.
Nothing fancy of a hotel but it was perfect, clean, comfy and had a pool.

Stayed twice over two weeks so 2 different rooms/check ins. Hilton Diamond so I know what to expect at Hampton. This facility really misses the mark. The building and rooms are updated and the 2 rooms I stayed in were clean. Seems like they are very understaffed. Digital key did not work on either of my reservations so I had to lug all my stuff back down to the desk to get a key card twice.
Shower door in one room was half off the track and I was a bit nervous about moving it and having the heavy glass door fall. Refrigerator in both rooms did not cool enough to safely keep food in, even after being set to MAX cool so I lost some food which sucked.
I found out the hard way that the only working ice machine is on the 4th floor. Each of the ice machines are located in a room adjacent to the elevators that smell absolutely disgusting, nearly vomit inducing. This is mostly due to the lack of trash collection on a daily basis. Trash remains in the hallways for more than 24 hours and residents dump large amounts of trash at the elevators and in the ice rooms making the whole area smell putrid. Hallways and elevators are not well maintained for cleanliness. Rooms aren't cleaned daily and no "do not disturb" signs are nowhere to be found.
Breakfast and the dining area seemed well kept and food as expected.
If you stay on the highway side the noise is pretty loud so consider that if you are a light sleeper. Other than the noise the location is perfect, there is a TX Roadhouse next door, a walmart, gas station, convenience store all in very close proximity.
On a more petty note, the office chair in the rooms are awful to have to work from.
I prefer Hilton because of the value, consistency and most important the no check in digital keys. When my digital key didn't work on 2 reservations back to back I was very annoyed. With better management this could be one of the better Hilton properties in the North East.
