Good ferry service, it take about 1 and a half hours to cross. Staff is friendly. The AC is turned up high inside so it can get quite cold, remember to bring something to cover yourself up.
Make sure to book your tickets in advance, we booked ours one week before and some ferries were not available anymore (we went in July).
It is hard to social distance on the ferry and you are required to wear a face mask (unfortunately, staff does not seem to actively monitor this rule and it’s each man for himself).
There is very little parking space near the dock, so we parked in the nearby parking garage. $15 for a day and safe.

I took a round trip to block Island, Rhode Island with two friends. We left on Friday mornings 8:30 a.m. ferry - it took about an hour and a half. It was a nice ride and it did have moderate waves.
We came back on Sundays 10:05 a.m. ferry from block Island to New London Connecticut. The ride was a bit gloomy but not as wavy.

I do notice that the boat in some areas are a bit run down, it would be nice if they were to keep up with that and I'm not sure they're wiping down tables when people leave. I say that because there were food crumbs on our table when we got on board.

This weekend we went is the week before kids get out of school and it's not extremely busy as it will be from here on out through Labor Day. I really like that.

The ferry did leave and arrive on time and the price I feel is more than fair.
$70.50 per person round trip.

You can also park your car at the New London lot for $10 a day - $30 in total for a Friday through Sunday.
You can then literally walk 2 minutes to the ticket booth, restroom and ferry.

You are not able to bring your own alcoholic beverages, at least not to drink there - you do have to buy their drinks. They do not start serving until 9:00 a.m. and they serve a really good bloody Mary for $12.
They have all kinds of snacks and breakfast pastries/muffins, coffee and tea, juices and water.

BRING YOUR PORTABLE CHARGER!
There are no USB/C ports, only several wall outlets. Passengers were nearly tripping over cables plugged into the outlets that are located on the bottom of several walls.
On Block Island, I saw several people walk into stores, looking to purchase portable chargers.

BRING MOTION SICKNESS MEDICATION
AS WELL! The ferry sold out of it, so my traveling companion had to purchase some on island. She got sick despite the gentle ride.

The Bloody Mary's were tasty and strong, the crew including the bartenders was pleasant, the restrooms were spotless, and the ride was smooth.

The four stars is because the ferry left
New London 42 minutes late due to mechanical troubles.

Professional staff & comfortable boat. 1 inconvenience is: a discount is negotiated between the ferry & my employer. In order for me to use the discount, I’m required to present my employee badge, which I then need to bring on vacation with me. Please try to find a better way.

Ferry service from New London to Block Island. Both trips left on time. The ride over was pretty rough in the morning and much smoother on the way back. Ferry was clean and they were able to transfer our tickets to an earlier crossing back to New London than what we had originally booked very easily.

Go up
