What a GREAT experience!! My husband, I and 11-year-old son booked a half day birding tour for Madera Canyon the end of March. Our guide was Caleb. He has been birding since he was 7 years old. Our son peppered him with non-stop questions about anything bird related, and he answered everyone sincerely and with deep knowledge.
He met us at where we were staying (Santa Rita Lodge- GREAT birding place) and we followed him up the road to the base of the hike. We took about 3.5 hours, hiked up to about 7k feet and were looking for birds (including the Pygmy owl) the whole time. Melting snow caused strong water run-off, so not the quietest of woods to listen for birds. We still saw MANY and Caleb was great at knowing the area, where to look, and what to expect.
Also, the whole process of booking the guide was easy. I contacted them online, then they texted me right away and communication was great before, up to, during and even after the tour. Caleb even sent an e-bird list from that day to us.
We would definitely book again with AZ-Birding.
