I live in Asheville and recently we as a town/community have experienced a lot of loss and trauma. Personally, I had a pretty intense fall and shattered my wrist, requiring surgery. For the unforeseeable future (even if the town had water) I was going to be unable to work. I don't have insurance (fall into a category of self employed folks that are minimally qualified for unemployment benefits) and wasn't prepared for the surgery financially or the loss of work. I reached out to the Giving Kitchen with very low expectations, only because the bureaucracy of everything else that I was trying to navigate was insanely difficult. Immediately Kim reached out to me and was kind and patient and generous with their time. Perhaps it was just coincidence but when I was approved for assistance I was having a very dark day. Receiving Kim's call with that great news was much needed for my mental health. Changed my attitude for the better. I appreciate everything that they were able to do for me and have much respect for their generosity.

They have been absolutely amazing and should have a 5 star rating. They have helped my daughter Kyra so much and honestly without their help she wouldn't be in a new apartment. So she thanks them so much and we both have a tremendous amount of respect for their organization and staff!!

This organization is here for service workers when they need them. I injured my knee at work and had to be off for a few months for rehab. They were able to help me out with rent and utilities and let me worry about getting better instead of the bills. I recommend you check out there site and the work they do. They are amazing.

I was in need of financial assistance and applied for every one of them.
Giving Kitchen was quick to respond. They had clear cut instructions on all the paperwork to turn in. Communication was superb, emailed and called regularly to remind me to turn everything in. Within a week they saved me from being evicted. I really appreciate what you all have done for me.

I reached out for help. I was told to send in a list of documents which I did. I was then told my landlord doesn’t own the home according to their documents. They asked for proof, the landlord sent me the title. My landlord apparently hasn’t paid this years taxes so they couldn’t prove he owned it. I then asked could I at-least get help with other bills, I’ve reached out twice since then and still no response. Absolutely no help and don’t recommend.

I got this information from 211 stating that they can help with rent if you have fallen behind. I spoke to an Erin who seemed very nice at the time and she even had me to send in my personal doctors information. Then she told me that someone would get back with me, no one has yet got back with me. I have sent over personal medical information to them and I think it's unfair that no one got back with me. I'm seeing all these good reviews but I did not get that from them and you have to work for a food company but at the time I was working for a food delivery service.
