As a new member of the community (transplant from Missouri), I felt so welcomed and supported in my business endeavors.

I just opened my brick and mortar business in the Main Street district and have had endless support from the people at Main Street Ottumwa. Their Business Builder Academy was a great educational experience and important networking opportunity. I got tons of foot traffic in my shop from their Ladies Night Out and Wine Stroll events.

The ideology behind this organization is horrific in this specific community. Members and leadership are very self-serving and promote only their business endeavors. Not a very welcoming organization to outsiders not known in the Ottumwa community. Events are very minimal and not well attended as claimed to be. The organization is Google focused and not "brick and mortar" starting from the ground up. Advice...open a business elsewhere or learn the lesson some of us had to.
