We have traveled with House of Travel twice in the past and the experience was great so we decided to use them for our destination wedding. What a terrible decision that was and our "agent" was even the owner, Jo. Throughout the process we had to double check everything she told us, we ended up finding the flights and telling her we wanted to book them. She was not keeping track of anything to get our ~50 guests the best prices. Re-assured us prices would come down to meet our budget (they never did). Ended up costing a few people better flights and more $$$. Almost everyone one of our guests called us in frustration dealing with Jo at one point or another.

Some of the highlights:
Wanted to charge one of our guests $200 to change the name on her airline ticket and wasn't even sure if she could. A quick call to the airline and $50 later we had it handled. The airline even said travel agents do that all the time, it's not problem.

Initially pushed everyone to the charter flight (which I'm sure she gets a kickback from) only until we told her that commercial airlines were hundreds of dollars cheaper and she needed to offer those to our guests as well. Her selling point was that the charter flight is very rarely delayed compared to the commercial airliners....Look up Sunwing Airlines, it's frequently delayed...Fingers crossed we get out tomorrow without any issues.

Sold the travel insurance to a few of our first guests without offering it as an option or even telling them she was adding it to their package.

Claimed she couldn't reserve our airline seats. After we called the airline, they said the travel agent should have called the week before our flight and could have picked our seats for us.

Overall extremely frustrated with the experience and will never give them my business again. Really a shame since we had good experiences with them in the past. Save yourself the headache and book online or with another travel agent.

I recently had Jo book me a trip to Jamaica. It was seamless. She got me the best value without sacrificing any of the experience and luxury. I'm usually stressed, indecisive, and spontaneous - a nightmare of a travel client. But Jo and her team made me feel reassured and prepared. They were so thoughtful as to send me a travel survival kit with a checklist of required and suggested items for my trip. AMAZING customer service. I missed my departing flight to Jamaica (my own fault). The House of Travel team had me rebooked almost immediately on the next flight out. I only lost an hour or two from my vacation. They always made themselves available to solve my travel problems and answer my questions. I will never book a trip by myself or without House of Travel.

Had an amazing experience with House of Travel! Booked my first ever cruise and couldn't be happier. The week long Norwegian cruise (all inclusive) was amazing and I had the best time. The whole trip including flights, hotels, ground transportation was organized so well, all I had to do was provide my passport. Couldn't have been easier. I recently got engaged and my fiancé and I will definitely be using House of Travel to book our honeymoon. Thanks again Jo!!

Never again most confusing flights and cruise i ever had ,why the hell would I want to fly to the other side of US to for a 2 hr flight to from Seattle to Denver travel agent sucks

We went to House of Travel to book our 50th Anniversary trip with our entire family, 11 of us. We booked an Alaskan cruise with Norwegian Bliss. From the start I could tell Jo, the owner was very disorganized. Her office was a messy area, when she took our credit card number she wrote it on a post it note. Lord knows where it ended up. We got emails from Norwegian saying costs had gone down, everytime Jo looked into on the phone as we sat there, her answer was, oh they went up. She sent us preliminaries of the trip, she had names wrong, birthdates wrong. It was frustrating. Our flights were booked with all of us sitting together, only to find out, we were not on the way out and even lost our 3 aisle seats. Our son and his wife changed their flights to fly out at a later time, then they found out 2 weeks before it had been changed back. Luckily they caught it. Jo told us once on the ship and out to sea, the 19 year olds could drink. That was false and a disappointment to them. She also said to book our excursions early, and we did. But she said nothing about booking restaurant reservations Also the ship had a go cart track and laser tag, she told us nothing about reserving the time either. The young adults in our family were very disappointed. I will never book another trip with her or House of Travel.

We recently worked with House of Travel to book a group trip of 8 people to Cabo San Lucas , Mexico. Taylor Peterson was our agent and was great to work with! She helped us find the perfect hotel and location! She went above and beyond to find exactly what we were looking for. I would highly recommend House of Travel and Taylor for your travel needs. Great experience, I will be going there for all my Future Travel! 🙂

I was prompted to write this review after seeing the last review about the House of Travel in Dubuque. I just booked my 6th trip with them and I can only assume they reviewed the wrong travel agency! The staff at House of Travel in Dubuque has never been anything but friendly and professional. We booked our destination wedding with them to Jamaica 10 years ago, and everyone that went with us was extremely pleased with the service. One of their staff members, Pam, actually went way and above for us a few years ago when we traveled to Mexico with another couple. The other couple missed their initial flight do to an ice storm. It was 5 am on a Saturday, and after a phone call to Pam because the couple had no idea how to proceed, she got out of bed, on her day off to talk to the booking agents with the airline to get them on another flight and to Mexico with minimal delay, knowing exactly what to say and do. That is GREAT customer service!! I will NEVER book with another agency, and anyone that I know that has used them agrees- House of Travel is THE BEST!

I would highly recommend House of Travel. Jo is an amazing agent and is extremely easy to work with. I have also dealt with Pam who is also a great agent. They always seem to find the best deals at the best rates and the easiest travel plans!
