This is one of my favorite places in Arizona. I've stayed here dozens of times and have never been disappointed. The rooms aren't fancy but they are clean and comfortable. Many have been updated. The birding, wildlife and hiking you can do from this place is fantastic. There are easy hikes nearby and down canyon from the lodge and more strenuous hikes as you head up the canyon. If you aren't up for hiking, just sitting at the bird feeder area is a great way to spend some time. During migration seasons the numbers of hummingbirds is wonderful to watch.

Great basic room. Kitchen had the basic necessities and there was a grill but no charcoal so we had to drive back 11 miles to Safeway(which isn't that bad, except for the time away from this lovely place!). The hummingbirds are there in profusion especially in the morning and evening, but midday brings a resurgence of them. Got some decent photos of the hard to capture Rivoli's, with color showing.||Heard the whiskered screech owl and Mexican whip poor will in the wright parking lot of Madera canyon after dinner. Walked parts of the canyon several times - great ease of access.

We travelled to SRL to photograph hummingbirds and other wildlife in the area. Our experience greatly exceeded our expectations. |We stayed in Deluxe Cabin 5 for one week. The cabin, although rustic, was very comfortable and had a full kitchen which enabled us to self cater during our stay. We knew to take food with us. We were very happy to discover that since we booked our accommodation last year the internet and the TV had been upgraded and we found the service to be very good. The staff were very friendly when we checked in and throughout our stay. They have a lovely gift shop to buy souvenirs and also coffee and pastries.||SRL takes a great deal of trouble to make the wildlife experience great for their guests. They have lots of bird feeders in the viewing area and it was very exciting to have hummingbirds flying right past our heads as we sat there to watch and photograph them. There was a large variety of other birds visiting the feeders too. We also photographed bats in the dark each evening. SRL leaves one feeder up at night for the nectar feeding bats to visit. We even saw a black bear try to get to the feeder one evening before it got chased away by the owner of the lodge. We saw a coatimundi several times and once it was on the front patio of our cabin. SRL loans a bird feeder to guests to hang out on their patio during their stay if they want to. It was such fun to sit on the patio drinking our coffee in the mornings and watch the hummingbirds feeding several feet away from us. ||We loved our stay and hope to return there again soon. Madera Canyon is a beautiful area.

If you are a birder, Santa Rita Lodge has feeders that bring in a wide range of southern Arizona species. Many were lifers for this new birder. You can view them from the comfort of a seat on the walkway. If you're watching the birds enjoy their meals and get hungry, you can purchase pastries, coffee, and such from the lodge. Staff is courteous and accommodating. Even in January, hummingbirds are there.

The cabin was spotless, lots of windows and bed and pillows were comfy! We drove so were able to bring any food supplies we needed, but we know other AZ friends who drive the 12 miles for food/restaurant. Three of us came to hike Mt Wrightson (again) and our 2-night stay at Santa Rita was just right. Our adult niece took the futon in the LR and said it, too, was comfortable. Madera Cny is a bird watcher's paradise as well as a hiker's destination and a unique experience. These cabins have vastly improved since some stays a few years ago; they even have WiFi now! Attentive and friendly staff who do a great job.

This was our first trip to Madera Canyon and Santa Rita Lodge, and it did not disappoint. We stayed 9 nights in a cabin, that was nicely furnished. My first morning was spent on our cabin deck, overlooking the canyon with the creek below us, photographing hummingbirds at the feeder, coffee in hand, enjoying all the sights and sounds of all kinds of birds in the area. Besides the rushing creek, there were tweeting, cooing, warbling, chirping, pecking and more. If you are a bird watcher, Santa Rita Lodge is a “must see and do”. There is a covered general area overlooking all types of bird feeders, that attract a large variety of birds to the area. I saw a lot of hummingbirds come by to our feeder on our cabin back deck and birds in the trees above us, so I ended up spending a lot of time there, in the mornings. There are only several B&B’s down the road, where eventually the road ends, leading to hiking trails up into the mountains. There is not a lot here, in the way of accommodations, but I would highly recommend Santa Rita Lodge. The staff was friendly and courteous and quickly responded to any needs or requests. We explored the surrounding trails and were amazed at the variety of birds that can be seen and heard. We plan on coming back in the future for another bird spring migration.

We had a breakfast meeting at the yurt, and it was a wonderful experience. The staff were very nice and accommodating. We will definitely use the yurt for events in the future.

The room was very clean and the bed was especially high quality and comfortable. Parking was easy and that's important in a canyon location. The location is spectacular for birding even at night! Communication with the host was easy & trouble free. I would definitely stay again.
