TERRIBLE
STAY AWAY
Absolutely terrible.
When you get there they give you a paper to sign so they can avoid all responsibilities for any possible injuries.

They do not give you any instructions before the ride, all they ask is have you ridden a horse before, after you get on the horse they give you instructions during the ride which is not possible to hear anything when you line up with horses.

They might give you the grumpy horse to watch and make fun of you.
Seriously stay away from this place. THEY ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS.

You need to call ahead and make sure conditions are good enough for horseback riding and let them know when you are coming. When you get there you park and walk up to the barn where they will have you pay in cash and fill out the waiver. This is when you tell them your riding history so they can decide who gets what horse. The ride is about 45 minutes to an hour. The staff is friendly. You hang out and wait until they are ready to start then they guide you. The riding is dependent on weather so the season can be short or long based on it. This is an outdoor campy activity. Expect to get a little dirty and to be in the woods. Wear comfortable clothes and it helps keep your feet in the stirrups of you have boots with a small heel but you can wear sneakers. The outhouses are pretty clean but on a slope so that is a bit challenging. I've done the riding twice in different years and loved it both times.

We had a great time! I took my niece for her first time on horseback and they chose just the right mount. The trails were beautiful and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly.

Nice, quiet place. One guy that works there, followed (the tail end of the group) younger kid, was super sweet and made sure to keep the group together. The horses seem well taken care of, the place was clean and well cared for. I was there 16 years ago, and again tonight and I enjoyed every bit of time there.

An absolutely fantastic time! Staff was super friendly from parking attendants (on horseback!) to tractor driver to security. Fire pit area was well kept, plenty of wood available. BYO everything and make it your own party. Neighboring parties were fun, helped take pics back and forth.
A great time was had by all!!

What an experience!!!This was an amazing, life changing monumental experience. Staff were super attentive in helping me feel calm, relaxed and safe. The guides were extremely patient and kind. I will be visiting again in the near future. Thank you Shady Lane staff!!!

Fantastic family event. Enjoyed the long hayrack ride with amazing views and nature. Kids loved the different encounters with other hayracks and and participated in the little hay battles. End of the ride fire was great for roasting marshmallows a d hit dogs. Great times.
