The check in process was easy, although there were children standing behind the counter while the staff member was checking us in, as well as in the side office and immediately assuming they were with some of the staff that are working.

There are 2 levels to this hotel but no elevator, and if stairs are an issue, then you might want to either insist on a first floor room or go elsewhere.

We were on the first floor down the hall from the party/event room and the pool. It was loud. Kids were running up and down the hallway, screaming non-stop. We could hear running on the upstairs level as well.
Thankfully, it died down around 9 p.m., but come 630 am, they were at it again.

The room was fine, a standard room. There is no fan in the bathroom, but the light up mirror is nice.

The shower head is rusty and gross. Water doesn't even spray out of all the holes because of the corrosion.
The water took a while to drain, and the tub faucet dripped nonstop.

We have stayed at other Country Inn's and have had good experiences. We wouldn't stay at this one again.

This was just what I needed. I was coming back from a long cross country road trip. Quiet, safe, the pool was in working order, the breakfast spread was phenomenal. The staff was very friendly.

My only issue is that I was bitten by spiders in my room and I had an allergic reaction to them. Otherwise my bed was comfortable.

This is a very clean hotel with friendly staff. Of all the hotels in the Grinnell/Newton area, this is the best one with a pool/hot tub. Others who have left a review have complained about noise, we always travel with a box fan to sleep at night, so this is never a problem for us. The hot breakfast wasn't anything my kids would eat, but there are wonderful restaurants in town with breakfast.

I chose this place because it had the highest ratings inn the area (pun intended). I was assigned room 203 which is directly above the stairs in the check-in area. The bedding was lacking. I have bath towels at home that are thicker than the 'comfortor' they provided. The pillows offered minimal support. I used the bedding from both beds in the room which was 6 pillows and mabey 2" of covers total and it was still inadequate, but I was too tired to get dressed and go back downstairs to ask for more so I decided to tough it out. So right when I start to fall asleep which has been at least an hour trying to get comfortable, I hear this banging that lasts about 30 seconds. I pay it no mind and try again to fall asleep. This banging continues to happen approximately every 10 minutes or so. I finally get fed up from the noise so I get dressed and leave my room to investigate the source of the banging, and it's an employee with a metal cart on wheels full of towels, pulling the cart up the steps, and every time the wheels reach the top of the steps the cart hits the step above it. Keep in mind this is all happening directly outside of my hotel door. So I wait downstairs to speak to the employee and I say, when you pull that cart upstairs, it makes a loud banging noise, is this something that you have to do now or can it wait until the morning? She says that she has to get it done tonight and that she has about 8 more trips. I told her to please check me out of the hotel. Mind you I checked in at 8:45pm and it's 11:45 pm now. I'm just gonna drive to the Walmart up the street and sleep in my work truck in their parking lot until I have to go to work in the morning.

Fraudulent use of phone and website collections.accepted funds from fraudulent source.Here is how the fraud works. My husband called the 641 area code number on the grinnellcountryinnanfsuites.com website. They stated they were the front desk and needed a credit card to hold the room. When we arrived, they had overcharged the card $328 instead if the advertised $196 including tax. I told the front desk we did not authorize the charge and they refused to give us refund and refused to put the charge on a different account. They admitted that they were being reimbursed for my room by the fraudulent phone number. Accepting funds (almost twice the advertised rate) from a known fraudulent transaction scheme is also fraudulent. I have filed a police report against the hotel and also placed a complaint with the FBI financial crimes unit.

1030 at night stomping around and loud music. Guys standing in hallway half the night talking on phone. No truck parking. Shower handle leaked tub wouldn't seal. Wifi setoff alarms for threats against info

I was discriminated against here. Maybe because I'm older, maybe because I wear a scarf on my head or maybe because they just don't like my looks
I was harassed, watched and this morning had constant vacuuming ONLY outside my room to drive me out probably.

I made a video of the loud and very annoying vacuuming which is now on my YouTube channel

I complained I could not rest and they just were rude and didn't care. I made other complaints and they apologized but defended themselves and didn't care about my experience.

The hotel is clean with good breakfast etc but no hotel that discriminates is ever good.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was awesome. I would definitely stay there again.
