I am a wedding photographer in New Jersey, and I recently photographed my first wedding at the Lobster Shanty Restaurant/The Sunset Ballroom. The venue is clean, and although parking can be a bit difficult, the friendly valet service next door helps to alleviate this issue. The venue has a separate restaurant from the wedding venue, and they do a good job of managing the two spaces. They have a bridal suite, and the wait staff and maitre d' were super attentive to the wedding party, promptly serving beverages and food, and taking orders. The views from the Sunset Ballroom are beautiful, with water views and a stunning sunset to the left, making for beautiful golden hour photos on the wrap-around porch outside the wedding venue. While the photo spots on the property are limited, it's highly recommended to take advantage of the sunset hour for photos. The food at the venue is delicious - I had the seafood sampler for dinner and enjoyed it, especially the lobster. My cod could have been seasoned a bit more, but when mixed with the vegetable seasoning, it tasted great! The Sunset Ballroom is spacious, with elegant chandeliers that elevate the space. There's plenty of dance floor for about 100-150 people, and I particularly liked the big mirror by the DJ booth, allowing people to watch themselves in action. I look forward to returning to the Sunset Ballroom for another wedding and capturing more beautiful photos!

We had a family reunion dinner for 12 there last week with family from Portugal, Japan, California and NY. The Sunset Ballroom was the perfect venue for our final meal together. Great view, food, drink and service.

Disappointed. Had my eye on this wedding venue for quite some time. I tried to set up a tour and the coordinator refused to allow a tour outside of Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. How do you expect a couple to pay for a wedding when you ask them to take a day off work just to tour? We live over an hour away from the venue.
Also, how would I trust this person to coordinate the details of my wedding if they're not flexible at all? This was an extreme turn off and we decided to look elsewhere. Every single other venue we toured allowed weekend or evening tours and we booked one of them, conveniently right across the water from this venue. Thanks Sunset Ballroom for absolutely nothing.

I attended an event at The Sunset Ballroom. Everything was very nice, and the view overlooking the water was an added bonus. Food was good, staff was pleasant and the restrooms were adequate and clean. If you're looking for a nice venue for an event, it's worth giving The Sunset Ballroom a call.

I am so thankful I found my way to the Sunset Ballroom. I really feel like it is a hidden gem among wedding venues and I'm surprised I don't know of /hear of more people getting married there. Nancy is the most amazing person to work with - I had so many questions, and so many emails, and she answered them all so quickly, efficiently, and was SO ORGANIZED for our big day, which as a super organized bride, delighted me. The Sunset Ballroom gives you sooooo much food for cocktail hour and the food for dinner was so delicious. Not to mention, the view at the Ballroom is amazing!! My guests loved the food and the atmosphere and I was so thankful that we had our wedding at the Sunset Ballroom!

I had gotten married here in October of 2014. Everything was absolutely amazing and my guests still rave about the beauty and food. My husband and I visit often and attend the Valentine's Day dance. I highly recommend!
My sister-in-law and myself both had showers there as well.

STAY AWAY! THESE PEOPLE HAVE NO HEART! I decided to cancel my wedding for next June due to covid uncertainty and the declining health of a family member. Nancy, the manager, refused to refund my deposit despite 8 months notice, no time invested on her part, and June being an easy month to rebook. Pure money making scheme on the part of these venues in light of little revenue during Covid. I am beyond disappointed in the Sunset Ballroom and would never recommend anyone to book an event there.
