Travel Review for Baltic Holidays: A Memorable Journey Through Lithuania and Latvia

Our family trip with Baltic Holidays in September 2024 was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, the team’s attention to detail and genuine hospitality set the tone for an unforgettable experience. Our trip planner, Phil Tubler, and our primary guide for the trip, Linas, did an incredible job showing us the homeland and curtailing our adventures to our wishes and desires.

Itinerary Highlights:
We explored the enchanting streets of Vilnius, where the blend of baroque architecture and vibrant street life captivated us. The guided walking tour was insightful, providing us with fascinating historical context and hidden gems. The highlights included the stunning Old Town, shopping district, traditional Lithuanian cuisine (so many great restaurants to choose from), Gediminas Castle, and our lovely hotel, Stikliai Hotel.
Traveling just over the border to Latvia in the later part of our trip, we were equally charmed by the countryside and the abundance of agricultural farm land and national forest within the Baltics. aThe architecture. Linas’ recommendations for traditional Latvian dishes added a delicious touch to our culinary adventure.

Nature and Culture:
The trip also included breathtaking natural landscapes. Palanga was an amazing seaside escape and still allowed for plenty of activity in the shoulder season (nature walks, the beach, Amber museum, dining, spa services, some seasonal shops). A day trip to the Curionian Lagoon allowed us to walk through scenic bird watching territory and historical pre-war buildings. The stunning views were a perfect backdrop for family photos.
What truly stood out was the cultural immersion and the attention to detail for showing us our family history and our grandmother’s village (the primary reason for our trip). The joy and laughter we shared created lasting memories.

Accommodations and Logistics:
Baltic Holidays ensured our accommodations were extremely comfortable and conveniently located, making it easy to explore each city. The transportation was seamless, with Linas driving us and sharing his local insights during our travels.

Stumbled upon Baltic Holidays (BH) when I was planning our family vacation to Europe in Sept and after some deliberation, we decided to engage BH to curate a private tour to Poland and the Baltic countries for our family of 5 pax from Asia, comprising 4 senior citizens. Although experience self-managed travellers, from time to time we use tour companies to make bespoke travel arrangements for us. We used Baltic Tours for our recent 3 weeks in Poland, and were delighted with the service we received. Prior to the tour they were very flexibly in customising our trip as we wanted it. All of the transportation, accommodation and tour arrangements went flawlessly. The drivers and tour guides were excellent – friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and spoke good English! The hotels where we stayed were generally of a high standard. All in all, we received good value and service, and would highly recommend them.

If you are planning a trip to the Baltic Countries, look no further than Baltic Holidays. My 18 days trip solo through Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia was absolutely amazing. I have completed several trips with travel agencies located in the regions I wish to visit, but this was definitely the best tour I have been on. All four star hotels were excellent with large, modern, very clean bedrooms and bathrooms and good service. Excursions were very well chosen, giving you a very good understanding of each country's history, traditions and customs. The forested interior and coastal areas of the countries offer amazing vistas. The cobblestoned old towns are a must see. The guides were all friendly, helpful, sensitive to your wishes and very knowledgeable without being pedantic. Not only was the trip very comfortable, but I got a very good sense of each country 's valiant preservation of their respective culture and language.

Everything went as planned – planned so well by your team. We met such interesting people in all three cities, and were driven safely and with excellent conversation between cities and to destinations. Our thanks are due to all of the guides. Their stories were inspiring, interesting (if at times complex!) and lively.
It was fascinating to be able to compare three countries in one visit. I will not say one was better than another! We were so fortunate to have warm weather throughout, not getting wet once, nor feeling cold. We were very moved by the stories and the places where Baltic histories came to life, and where we could sample the environments, both urban and rural.
The hotels were as good as you suggested. Each one different, but absolutely the best. Thank you for arranging these. We made sure we had a good breakfast, so needed only a drink and snack at midday. They all had excellent breakfasts, and comfortable large rooms.
Going out for dinner is a highlight of a holiday for us. We found excellent restaurants with a bit of research before the holiday so had two booked in each city in advance. The third, we saved for local advice, which worked well too.

Baltic Holidays went out of their way to ensure that we had just the type of holiday that we wanted. Everything that they arranged for us was excellent, seeing some fabulous places and having really good guides. Everything went without a hitch and I'd definitely recommend this company to anyone considering a holiday in the Baltic countries.

Biscuit Time

We had a special trip planned by Baltic holidays which included 3 Capitol cities , Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius as well as day trips from our hotel base which included national parks, lunch on the Baltic Sea, castles, manor homes and palaces. There was a great variety every day with some free individual time to explore on your own. All the hotels selections were comfortable and well located in relation to the old towns. Breakfast included. Having our own guides throughout the trip was a treat because not only do you have the opportunity to meet local people but share in personal experiences especially during the Soviet occupation. All the planning worked like clockwork and we enjoyed the scenic drives. If any issues occurred the Baltic holiday team was available and responded immediately which was comforting . We really treasure our trip and memories. Highlights include Rundale Palace and lunch at MerMer as well as the 3 hr walking tours which provided a great introduction and insight into a new place. We look forward to another trip with Baltic Holidays. Highly recommend!!!
