Carriage Hill MetroPark is a peaceful retreat, especially after a snowstorm. The serene atmosphere, combined with snowy landscapes and abundant birdlife, makes it a perfect spot for photography and relaxation. I particularly enjoyed photographing the farm horses against the wintry backdrop—they were a highlight of my visit. This park’s charm has me eager to return during the warmer months to explore more of its beauty. Highly recommend for nature lovers and photographers alike!

There are several reasons to come here, the reception center is awesome. But the pond is my favorite! It’s catch and release, no license needed. They have sun fish, bass, cat, frogs galore, turtles, and much more wildlife. The dock is best for the sun fish bluegill. They also have trails to walk, summer be careful if you bring a pet, there are ticks here! Penny cans at the reception center, and horse trails.

Carriage Hill been in my life for 42 yrs. All the way up til i was 15 we would go every day or other day. Sadly i had to move to kentucky. So we would go once a year or more. It was always a tradition to go at least once a year for their candy which sadly as of 2025 they no longer have.
I remember when I was about 7. A tuxedo cat was following us around. I asked if we can keep him. The park said we can keep him. He was a stray that appeared.
But it's still gorgeous place to go to. They have a historic farm setting.
Also horseback riding , or can bring your own horses and a water spot where you can walk around or go fishing. They used to have wagon rides pulled by 2 beautiful draft horses. Not sure if they still do but this place is super peaceful to come and visit.
They also have different activities and events that happens every month.

They have done an excellent job of preserving the historical landmarks at this site. They have a picnic area. There's a big lake you can fish in but it's catch and release only. There's horses and sheep. There's a parking area if you want to bring your own horse and go for a ride. You will want to start at the welcome center do you see all that there is to do there. Great place to take the family and the kids and do a picnic
