I visited for the first time this past weekend with my father and kiddos. Here are some things I was glad I knew in advance (and some I didn't lol)

1. You don't have to pay to park or take a shuttle. Early when it's not as busy and you can find street parking within walking distance no problem!

2. Most food is priced around $8. Some of those are full plates/entrees and some of those are smaller specialty things. So if you plan to eat there and feed a whole family, you're gonna be spending a decent amount.

3. Bring cash. A lot of places don't take cards.

4. If it has rained at all in the past two days, wear shoes that are meant for the mud. About half of the Festival is on grass. Yes, they put down straw, but that only gets you so far. You might also wanna consider the stroller you take due to the mud as well....

5. It's bigger than you might expect! Not only is it in the blocks surrounding the center of downtown, it's also across the bridge running along a good distance of the water.

6. Yes, there's a play area for kids. No, it is not free. Not sure what the prices were. But it is located along the water. (This area is also heavily affected by rain)

7. The prices are SLIGHTLY better across the bridge by the stadium. I noticed a dollar difference on basic things like funnel cakes and other treats.

Over all we had fun and just might return next year. I certainly enjoyed the walk and the delicious smells.

My wife and I make this an annual event. Music is good, food is great! I totally recommend the Jack Daniels pork chop. It is by the fountain. For drinks, I recommend the strawberry lemonade.

For dessert, my favorite are the deep fried strawberries. They were located on the levee this year. My daughter-in-law liked the chocolate covered strawberries.

Go, have a good time.

If you are going for the arts and crafts portion of this event don't bother. This event has very few high quality arts/crafts vendors. As far as food vendors, the lines for most of them were in excess of a half hour or longer, ridiculous. The downtown had some nice shops and restaurants that were open and were good. I would suggest just a visit to Troy itself and not necessarily the Strawberry Festival.

Not a fresh strawberry in town... I'd never been to the Troy Strawberry Festival but I certainly love strawberries! So, I thought it'd be a great place to get some fresh strawberries and explore another town of Ohio, but I was very sadly mistaken. We spent a couple hours walking around peeking in at some of the local vendors and enjoying the Troy downtown area, which was nice, but all the while I was searching for some fresh strawberries that one would expect to find at a so called "Strawberry Festival." To my extreme disappointment they didn't have any!!! The closest thing was a chocolate covered strawberry or some fresh strawberries covered in whip cream on top of a strawberry short cake... Other than that, not a single fresh strawberry in town. The rest was full of your typical fried fair foods and other strawberry "flavored" items. It happened to be a warm day so I bought one of the strawberry lemonades which was another bland disappointment. Honestly wasn't worth the gas money spent to get there. I feel duped. I had to stop at Kroger to buy some not farm fresh strawberries just to say I actually had a strawberry the day I went to the so called "strawberry festival." Ugh
