You will not be disappointed at this hotel. Over the years, I have stayed at many HIE locations. From start to finish, the staff, facility and amenities were the best that I have experienced. Professional, friendly and efficient staff in every interaction. The room, lobby, building and grounds were very clean and well maintained. The breakfast buffet had a variety of hot and tasty items that I have not seen in other locations. Overall, an excellent one-night stay while travelling and would highly recommend it.

Rooms are clean and great Wi-Fi. Haven't tried the shower yet but I am sure it's great. As a frequent traveler, I look for cleanliness, wifi, and water pressure in the shower. Comfortable beds are a must too. Lol. So far so good!

This nhotel needs to be remodeled/refurbished. You can tell they are trying to cut costs here - which is particularly interesting because they are charging a overly high price. However, the hotel was full as the staff explained its on the way to the beaches so they maintain a high occupancy rate. However, the three nights prior to this stay we were in Pensacola and the rates there were less - and that is near the beaches. Regardless, we did not have our room serviced and that is a point of contention becase the housekeeper said the do not distrub sign was on at 1:30 pm. Not sure! We left the hotel at 11-11:30 and the sign was NOT on the door. We returned at 4:30 - sign naturally was not on the door - but the room was not serviced. I do not appreciate dishonesty. Lighting in the bathroom quite dim. The room did not seem overly clean and really do not like having hairs in the bath towels that aren't mine. You can do better - look across the street to the Home2.

I love Holiday Inn Express. The rewards program is awesome. The rooms are always super clean. It always smells nice and the staff are friendly. Breakfast is good and convenient.

Overall, this hotel experience was very good. I travel a lot and usually choose IHG. The staff was very nice, friendly and helpful keeping us informed about the inclement weather that was coming in and road conditions. The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. The gym was rather small, but I was the only one in it so that did not bother me too much. My only complaint would be the showerheads are terrible. Quite possibly they were shower I have ever had. Everything else was great.

Holiday Inn Express & Suite Athens, AL offered an above average experience recently. The hotel and our room were clean and tidy with expected amenities. The breakfast fare was very good. The bed was ia little too soft. The staff was friendly and acomodating although sometimes a little distracted. Our only complaint about this hotel was the room key system. The room keys worked only sporadically and had to be replaced three times over our stay to gain room entry. Please note, we did not keep the room keys near our phones or other electronic devices. We were not the only guests with similar room key issues. Overall a pleasant place to stay but they need a better room key system.

Review Title: Avoid This Holiday Inn Express at All Costs! Terrible Customer Service!

I had a truly awful experience at the Holiday Inn Express in Athens, Alabama, on March 27th at 11:59 PM during a long road trip with my family from Illinois to Florida. We decided to stop here based on what we thought were good reviews online, but boy, were we mistaken!

As we pulled up, we found the doors locked at midnight, which is understandable. However, there was a phone on the wall with a sign instructing guests to call the front desk for assistance. I tried to communicate with the employee inside, but she was yelling at me through the glass doors, asking, “What do you want?!” It was shocking, to say the least. I pointed to the phone, hoping she would pick it up and speak to me like a professional.

Instead, she looked at me with disgust and reluctantly answered the call. Her response was nothing short of rude: “What?!! What do you want!!” All I wanted was to check if they had an open room for my family. She curtly replied, “No!” and hung up on me.

This was, without a doubt, the worst customer service I have ever encountered in a hotel. We left immediately and found another place that treated us with the respect we deserved.

If you value your experience and want to be treated like a human being, I highly recommend avoiding this Holiday Inn Express at all costs. Unbelievable experience!

I stayed at this location back in December. The original reservation was supposed to be for 12/21 – 12/22. For some reason I booked the rental car dates and fat fingered or something on the hotel reservation. Being a part time wildlife photographer, and dealing with My Mom who had been in rehab, sometimes, you over look small things. I went here on 12/21 trying to check-in early, and they said it would be later in the day when I could. I come back at the time, and they said you are already checked in, that’s when I noticed something had happened. They told me I would need to speak with the manager, Glenda. Glenda reached out after I had checked out, and was very firm this could not happen again, but she did not charge me for the night I was not there. Even with all the foolishness in the world, there are still compassionate people. I had no issues, other than the pancake maker, tore one of my pancakes, but it could have been user error, as this was my first time using this since I’ve been stating at Holiday Inn Express. Rooms were clean, food was good, and people was very nice. There are places to eat nearby, so this is a good location.
I also would like to recognize Glenda Gillam, general manager. I know it can be a tough, and stressful job in your field, but I was highly satisfied, not just with my outcome of the booking situation, but also your professionalism and passion for your guest and your hotel. I hope they give you a above and beyond award as you deserve it. Sorry this was late, but I told you I was going to give a great review, apologies for the delay in posting this.
