I had the pleasure of traveling on the Alaskan Moraine Highway Ferry. It was necessary for us to arrive three hours before the ferry's scheduled departure. The staff was exceptionally courteous and accommodating. My cabin was of a suitable size and featured four bunks, a sink, and a shower. Additionally, there were complimentary washer and dryer facilities available on the vessel. The ferry also offered a dining room, a lounge, multiple sun decks, and enclosed observation decks. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience.

I think there could have been more done to occupy passengers... like they have a little room where you can watch documentaries to kill time (but they're boring), why not a movie room? I'd pay more to watch a movie... maybe not Titanic, but another movie. They have games/puzzles you can borrow, but there are alot of pieces missing in their games... so I'd never try a puzzle. They have snack machines & soda machines (cans) & they're $1 ea which isn't bad. They have a toaster/microwave in the cafeteria that you can use anytime. We brought mac-n-cheese microwavable cups & they were good. We also brought on pizzas to eat the first night. We had a cabin, but many people were on the top deck with tents (duck taped to the deck) or hammocks (tied to the rails).

The staff/crew were very helpful anytime I interacted with them.

We had 3 dogs as well. The travel company we used said we needed plastic sided crates like on the plane - this is NOT true! We bought stuff we didn't need to, as others were using their wire cages on board.

There are 4 times a day that you can go down to walk your dogs, get in your luggage, car, etc.

Try to pay anything/everything in one day that you take to your room with you. The others can be checked at the gate before boarding so you don't have to keep track of them. You can still get into them 4x a day if need be.

Warning: They expect the dogs to do their business on the deck & many just won't go! If your dog is pad trained bring pads! If they're trained for grass bring a chunk of astroturf & garbage bags. You can let them use it, wipe it down & then bag it to take it to rinse it off in the shower. Sounds hinky, but a dog holding all functions for days isn't a good thing!

An awesome way to travel in Southeast Alaska. The crew is excellent and the views are pretty spectacular! If you want to experience the magic of Prinve of Wales Island and need a way to get over, this is the way to do it. Don't forget to have a milkshake on your ride! 🙂

Love the scenery while aboard the ferry! Occasional whale spotting! Fishing boats and several smaller islands along the way. The homes are amazing to see, lush forests as their background, with boats docked and ready to go!

Service has always been very easy to deal with. Been using the ferry system for 38yrs. I recently been purchasing my tickets online. Even when I make a mistake & have missed a date, I just send an email, followed by a call(if possible) & the staff is extremely helpful, & compassionate to whatever my need may be. THANK YOU, AMHS & IFA🙏😀

They got us to Metlakatla and back. I prefer the Alaska Marine Highway (AMH), since they let you off the boat at ports and then back on; IFA does not. Would take AMH's M/V Lituya whenever it's back in service if I need to make this trip again.
