This little museum and outdoor trail area is worth stopping by if you’re in the area. There’s a short film played in the main building that talks about the Arkansas Post site and gives a good explanation on the history of the site. The outdoor walking trail lets you see the sites of the original outpost, however none of the buildings are still standing. This a a free experience and I definitely recommend stopping by!

We visited on a Sunday. The Park ranger was very informative. She walked with us through the facility and was able to ask any questions that we had. She was also very helpful with the junior ranger and junior scientist information.
The video was very well put together.
We really enjoyed walking the trail and my boys were overly excited about the still visible rifle pits. We especially liked the bit of the trail where it marked where things in the town used to be.

Visited Center still hasn't opened as of yet! Bring a good set of shoes and water because the trails are longs (paved). Theyre are plenty of benches if you get tired! Mt disappoint was there arent any old building to represent town or fort that used to be tbere...Plenty of things to read... Oh and get pets on leashes...there are alligators seen from time to time!

Its a nice place to visit. Super long concrete trail. Seen a bald eagle out by the water. Its a day visit only and there are alligators in the water. This place has a long history about the post by the river.
