Anne from Viking travel was great. She planned everything for a 15 day tour of the best spots in Alaska. All we had to do was show up at our airport and everything was arranged and scheduled. She included a variety of transportation options, train, bus, boat, car, ferry, plane and hiking. We saw Mt. Denali from the ground, by bus and from the air. Saw Glaciers from boats, air and on foot. Saw all the animals and caught a limit of fish.
We would definitely recommend her for your Alaska trip planning

We used Viking Travel to plan our trip to Alaska taken from 8/23 - 9/8/2025. Madeleine Valentine was our travel consultant, and she was great. Madeleine listened to what we wanted and created an amazing trip for us. Our Alaskan Adventure included so many different types of experiences. From salmon fishing on the Kenai River to hiking on a glacier to going above the Arctic Circle to see the Northern Lights. Highlights for us included staying at a unique resort "Shearwater Cove" in which we stayed in a private Yurt in the temperate rainforest outside of Seward. Shearwater Cove is in a private cove Resurrection Bay. Although the weather prevented us from going on a boat tour of Kenai Fjords National Park, the experience was amazing. Madeleine helped us find other things to do and get a refund for our boat trip.

Another highlight for us was hiking on the Matanuska Glacier. The tour guides were knowledgeable and helped us navigate the glacier and several crevasses as we hiked using crampons. Our journey included several trips on the Alaskan Railroad which we really enjoyed. One stop was in Talkeetna. With the amount of rain that had fallen during August our boat trip on the Susitna River was cancelled. Madeleine helped us get rebooked on a trip the following day and made sure the reservation we made was refunded and the original reservation used for our trip.

Our trip to the Arctic Circle, Coldfoot camp, and to Wiseman to see the northern lights was amazing. It included a long drive along the Dalton Highway during which we learned a lot about the interior of Alaska, the Alaskan pipeline, the ecosystems of the boreal forest and the tundra, and the people who lived there. The Dalton highway is the only road in this part of Alaska and is very rough in sections. The excessive rain the interior had experienced made this journey even more challenging/epic. As it turns out the weather caused our flight from Coldfoot to Fairbanks to be cancelled. We had to take the tour van back down the Dalton highway to get back to Fairbanks. Unfortunately, the van would not arrive in Fairbanks until 2:30 AM on Monday 9/8. This meant that we would miss our flight back to MN. Madeleine helped us book a hotel in Fairbanks and made the logistics with our luggage seamless.

This was our first (there will be more!) trip to Alaska and it was especially good to have Madeleine and Viking travel help us with the arrangements. Their knowledge of Alaska, available tours and experiences, and a wide variety of lodging options produced a trip that was truly epic - all that we could have asked for. Even when things did not go as planned, they were professional, helpful, and really cared about us and our experience. I would highly recommend using Viking travel for your trip to Alaska.

Devynn at Viking Travel planned an amazing 5 day trip to Fairbanks for our family of 4. She offered many activities for us to try, then we picked what we wanted to do. When our travel was interrupted she helped with rescheduling. Overall the communication was great. I would definitely use their services again.

If you don’t read this long post, this is the most important part; Anne Volk with Viking Travel Inc is the absolute best! We found Anne by simply doing what you might be doing, an internet search trying to find a travel agent that might be able to help us plan a cruise, specifically an Alaskan cruise for us. We had never been on a cruise and didn’t know where to start and decided working with a travel agent might be the way to go. We had never worked with a travel agent before and we came across Viking Travel and the good reviews it had and began looking at the pictures of the agents and came across Anne. We picked Anne because her bio seemed to reflect the experience in travel that would help guide us, and well, she just looked incredibly friendly. If you are looking for someone to get you the best rates, the most options, to respond to your emails or phone calls promptly, and be friendly and professional then stop searching you found her! We are already looking forward to planning our next cruise and you better believe Anne is already on top of it! Now you can stop searching for a travel agent because you found the best, Anne Volk, and begin to relax and let her get to work planning your dream vacation!

Devynn did an amazing job setting up our trip to SouthEast Alaska. We saw so many cool things (whales, eagles, seals with pups, otters, bear, icebergs, adorable little villages, Alaska natives and their culture).

The small boat cruise was absolutely perfect. Great closeup views of glaciers with wonderful food and crew.

The charter fishing was an absolutely awesome experience. Nothing like being on the water surrounded by snow-topped mountains. AND we even caught some fish!

VIKING TRAVEL.INC with MADELEINE
Wow, this trip was on my bucket list and with VIKING TRAVEL INC. it was AMAZING. Traveled with my 2 Brothers and Sister in Law was so much fun (me at 78yrs and Betsy the youngest). MADELEINE VALENTINE set this trip up so we were always taken care of every step with the package. Amazing.
Day 1: SNOB HOLLOW INN/ Anchorage was perfect and walking distance to great food and drinks. Around the corner we walked to the train.
Day 2: Anchorage ALASKA RAILROAD - Gold Star Service got us to the upper dome (drinks and dining). Meals were great and what a top notch crew. Views were awesome.
DENALI GRAND TOUR WITH GLACIER LANDING / with Pilot Dave at K2 Aviation, Talkeetna. This flight was incredible, I believe we were feet from the mountains...he said 500ft. I have a fear of heights but had NO problems. Fun to be up close to the pilot and watch him take off. Then landed on the glacier - best landing ever. WOW - DON'T MISS THIS.
TALKEETNA ALASKAN LODGE - shuttle and luggage always right there. Dinner here - the salmon was the best ever. Town of Talkeetna was so sweet.
Day 3: ALASKA RAILROAD - again Gold Star Service...crew was awesome. Got used to beautiful views again.
GRANDE DENALI - Here we found no clouds on Denali so we got amazing pictures. Shuttle and luggage pickup right there.
NORTHERN EPICS NATURALIST walking tour with Jordan. 3 hour easy walk...kind of learned how to survive if we got stranded / kidding. Biggest snowshoe hare up close. Moose's. Great tour.
Day 4: TUNDRA WILDERNESS TOUR / afternoon with Darrin - he really called in the Wildlife. 5.5 hour plus tour with video in the bus so he could zoom in for us. Right off a moose was 2 feet from the bus, just eating away. Here's the amazing list - Moose's, phtarminans, snowshoe hare, caribou's, dall sheep, porcupine and a special Mama Grizzly bear with 2 cubs ...wow we saw it all. He told us his wolf experiences and could tell he loves the park / wild animals. DON'T MISS THIS.
Day 5: ALASKA RAILROAD TO FAIRBANKS - Gold Star Service. Meal was great and sights out the window - we were spoiled.
RIVERS EDGE RESORT was right on the Chena river...very neat place.
Day 6: RIVERBOAT DISCOVERY...five generation family gave us a walking tour Athabascan Indian village was awesome, viewed how they stored, smoked fish, beautiful clothing from hides. Susan Butchers family had up close visit from the dogs/sled when she won 4 times the Iditarod dog sled race in Alaska. Very Cool and warm family feel to keep all these traditions moving forward.
THIS WAS JUST THE BEST PACKAGE EVER. Thankyou Madeleine...I will never forget this trip. Paula

My daughters and I had an absolutely amazing Alaskan vacation! Many thanks to Kathleen and Viking Travel for making our trip so very special. We rode the Alaskan Railway to Seward, hiked to Exit Glacier, cruised the Kenai Fjords to Hobart Glacier, rode the Aerial Tram in Alyeska and rafted the Placer River. We saw abundant wildlife, majestic views and stayed at first class hotels. Truly a trip of a lifetime! Viking Travel is the best!
