We found this place while looking for somewhere to stay for the 2024 total eclipse. It was fantastic! The cabin was clean and beautiful. The kids enjoyed the loft, which does have a small gate. We had our own picnic area, charcoal grill, and firepit. Richie, the property manager was always available and quick to help out or answer questions. On site ice, a playground for the kids, washer and dryer.... I wish I could give this place more stars. A hidden gem for sure, and we will be back!

Oh my goodness, we were so pleasantly surprised! We were traveling through to pick up a puppy near by and found this place to stay. For the price I guess I expected something kinda rough but this place is built beautifully! Very clean and well decorated . The river was beautiful and peaceful. So quiet here! And the owner is an absolute doll! There is an ice machine as well. It had a coffee maker so that made me happy!! Haha! Has a playground which my 11 year old enjoyed. Thanks for the great stay!

Mislead us and took our deposit, then lied on the review reply!
Booked a cabin and paid $100 deposit (more than usual nightly rental) nearly a year in advance and confirmed multiple times. The night prior (2024 eclipse), Richie texted he was "getting multiple requests" for cabins because "nothing else was available in the area." I said we were definitely going to be there, but simply needed to pay the 2nd night on a different credit card. He quoted an extra $20 per night on top of the extra $70 per night he was charging for the eclipse week, and said it was a "misunderstanding." He then offered to let us out of the reservation and refund our deposit (presumably because he could charge triple his normal rate, rather than the double we were paying. We agreed to release the cabin for someone else, and moved our plans to elsewhere, within minutes of his offer. After a week of no refund, I reached out, and Richie said he was not refunding the deposit. So he has our $100 and nearly a year's worth of interest, but he does not have our respect. Shame on you, Richie, you know you mislead us and took advantage.

Richie's reply is not true, and I have the messages to prove it. HE CONTACTED US to say he had others wanting the cabin, and it was NOT 2 days before the reservation, it was LATE the night before we were supposed arrive. I was okay with releasing the reservation AFTER he said we'd be refunded AND I found another location with better weather, but not a minute before.

I love this place. We go to this area every year to hunt. Last year we had our camper on the site. This year we stayed in the cabins. Very nice place and love the wash room and ice maker available. If you love the outdoors with the comforts of home. You will love it to. ?

We stayed here memorial weekend alongside my sister and her family in the cabin next to us. We all had an absolute blast! It reminded me of going camping as a kid up in the mountains. My kids had so much fun and we've decided we're going to make this an annual trip for sure!

Thigpen's Hideaway was so relaxing. We sat on the porch and watched a Bald Eagle flying around the river. The cabin was very neat and clean. The beds were comfortable. |It was a perfect getaway!|I would love to book 3 or 4 cabins for my friends to come and stay. Each could have their own place at a great price, but you could be close enough to visit.
