The reception staff is very kind, the maids are friendly, and the cleanliness of the place is very good.
However, here are a few points:
- No assistance was offered upon arrival to take our luggage to the third floor (trolley).
- Poorly soundproofed, we could hear our roommates' conversations almost as if we were in their room and they were walking very loudly above us.
The hotel is well located to be able to get around on foot, however, I also noticed that there are a lot of homeless people and drug users, and this in broad daylight, so we returned early to our room.

My stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Burlington Downtown was a mix of convenience, comfort, and some notable downsides. The location is absolutely perfect—walking distance to Church Street Marketplace, the waterfront, great restaurants, and Champlain College. The valet staff were incredible, even in freezing temps, and the corner room I had offered a beautiful double view of Lake Champlain. Spacious, quiet, and comfortable.

However, there are things that fell short. Housekeeping only comes every other day, which would be fine if the rooms were better stocked. We had to call for basics like toilet paper and soap. Also, there were only three towels in a room meant for four people—a small but frustrating detail.

I didn’t personally have issues with security, but after learning about reported thefts from guest rooms, I would definitely recommend using the in-room safe or not leaving valuables behind.

Breakfast was available, but overpriced for the quality—charging extra per egg felt excessive. The hotel was undergoing some construction, though it didn’t impact my stay much aside from some detours through the lobby.

All in all, the hotel shines in location and comfort, but falls short in service consistency and peace of mind. I’d consider staying again, but with more caution.

My stay this week was beyond any hotel experience I ever had! Each and every staff member went above and beyond to make my stay a pleasant experience, the staff is professional and patient, I highly recommend using staying at this hotel.

In addition the rooms were very clean and fresh (not the typical hotel mold smell)

Six of us stayed here for business. Each of us seemed happy with our room, with the exception of the creaking flooring on the fourth floor. This was heard most clearly in the hallway, but also in my room and two of my colleague's rooms. I just turned on my room fan which created enough white noise to drown it out.
The front desk was friendly and helpful whenever we had a question or request. Those who ate the breakfast seemed to enjoy it, although there were comments about it being pricey.
The common complaint was the $3 charge per water bottle if you haven't achieved a high enough level of Hilton rewards member status. There were many comments about how this felt like something a cheap hotel would do, not a Hilton. We all agreed that a little higher room charge, then including these amenities would make the hotel feel like a higher-end hotel, instead of a low-budget one trying to nickel and dime their guests.
Depending on your room, there are views of Lake Champlain and the location is very convenient since it is downtown. It's too bad that they have to highly recommend valet parking inside to prevent security issues.
Main Street (along with a few other streets) was under construction while we were there which caused a little more noise during the day and some inconvenience - obviously this isn't the hotel's fault and we heard that many of the businesses are suffering due to the prolonged time is has taken to finish the road work. This didn't impede walking around at all and since the hotel is in downtown, there are a lot of restaurants and shops just a few minutes away on foot - Lake Champlain is also a walkable distance.
All in all, I'd stay here again without any serious concerns and I think I would enjoy my stay next time as well.

We stayed 2 nights. It is not on the Lake but you can walk there easily. Coming back is uphill. A couple of blocks from main square with shops, restaurants. I liked the location. More centrally located. Front desk is very good. Helpful. Valet parking is 25.00 per day in and out as much as you want. Valet guys were super. Very quick. Hotel , room and gym were all clean and well maintained. AC was good and it was hot! Only con: it is expensive.

This hotel is in a very convenient location not far from Lake Champlain, walkable to Church St area & other restaurants. We were in a room on the first floor which actually had a far view of the Lake. The room had recently been re-done and it seemed like the hallway carpets had recently been replaced. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating and the little bar was pleasant for an evening drink. Valet parking is required, $24 a night, very convenient (in and out all day no extra charge).

I want to begin by saying the hotel itself is excellent, both the service and the building are top notch. My issue, however, lies with the surrounding area and the lack of safety, which unfortunately overshadows the entire experience.

I’ve traveled extensively, Chicago, Cincinnati, Las Vegas, New York, Pittsburgh, and sadly, Burlington, Vermont, stands out as one of the most crime ridden and openly unsafe downtown areas I’ve encountered. This was not based on hearsay or assumptions, but on personal observation just steps from the hotel.

Around 3 p.m., I walked a single block to grab a drink. During that short walk, I encountered numerous individuals experiencing homelessness, an unusually high concentration for such a small city. I then witnessed someone overdosing in a parked vehicle. At the bar, I watched more than six individuals openly using meth or crack.

On my way to dinner, I saw a man clearly under the influence of a dangerous substance in the street, putting himself and others at risk. On the return walk, just outside the hotel, I saw one person injecting drugs and others clearly high and loitering. I even found myself inadvertently in the middle of a drug deal. To top it off, a visibly intoxicated individual followed me for a block, aggressively demanding money.

What disturbed me most was the complete absence of law enforcement. In every other city I’ve visited, there is a strong police presence in downtown areas, and open drug use and threatening behavior are not tolerated. In Burlington, it appears to be not only tolerated but ignored.

This hotel receives a one star rating from me, not due to its own shortcomings, but because of its apparent lack of advocacy for guest safety. The city leadership deserves the same rating, there is a clear failure to protect both its residents who are struggling with addiction and the visitors who support the local economy. People deserve access to help, not the freedom to spiral publicly while endangering others.

Until meaningful changes are made, I cannot in good conscience recommend staying here.

Kind of a mixed experience. The beds and room were fine, but the problem was the following: I knew that the street the hotel is one has been dug up for nearly a year, so I called the hotel direct to verify if that was still the case. They told me that the street work was really almost done and that access and noise weren't a problem. Fine, we booked since it was close to a theater we had a seat for. We arrived and found the entire first floor of the hotel a complete chaos of remodeling construction. The front desk clerk had earplugs in to tolerate the saws and jack hammers. The conference rooms, ball rooms, hallways were all being worked on. I kicked myself for not asking if the HOTEL was being torn up. It wouldn't have killed them to mention it! Fortunately, the room was a good ways away in another building, but we skipped hopping over construction junk to get to the restaurant. Definitely there are better places in the budget range in Burlington, so I will never get to see this place when it is finally finished.

This seemed like the perfect hotel until it was time to get some much needed sleep. I became incredibly congested, had a horrible sore throat and a banging headache. Turns out, the air filter in the room which was easily accessible, looked like it hadn’t been changed in a very, very long time (See photo). I don’t say this because I want anyone to get in trouble. It was otherwise a nice place. For over $400 a night however, that’s just not acceptable to me. I mentioned it upon checkout and showed the photos I took. They did refund my $24 valet parking fee, which I appreciated. (Valet parking is totally necessary unless you want to search for street parking). Again, not looking to harm any employees, I was just expecting better.

We stayed while visiting our granddaughter at UVM and paid $1,324 fora very disappointing two nights, October 3 to October 5. Pricing inconsistent, not sure why rare was so high. Despite the high rate, daily maid service was not provided—it’s only offered every other day, which seems unreasonable at this price point. I requested fresh towels for day two, but they never arrived. There were no drying towels or air dryer in the lobby bathroom, walls are very thin, and we could clearly hear full conversations from the next room. Breakfast was included, but there was only one server. Rather than wait, we helped ourselves to a very sparse buffet with no bread or rolls, and coffee wasn’t served until after we had finished eating. At 7 AM, the coffee urns in the lobby were empty.|We had requested a handicap-accessible room, yet were placed in one of the farthest rooms from the elevator, which was inconvenient. In addition, there was some sort of contraption under the bathroom sink that required assembly—unclear why it was there or what it was for (see picture below).|On the positive side, the rooms were spacious and clean, and the location was convenient. However, at $662 per night, I would certainly expect a much higher level of service. In the future, I would choose to stay elsewhere unless the price is more reasonable and in line with the hotel's service.

The positives: the hotel is in a great location and most of the staff are welcoming and helpful.

Unfortunately, my stay fell far short of expectations. I waited over an hour past the 4pm check-in time, only to see a colleague who checked in after me promptly offered a room. When I finally received mine, it was an accessible room I hadn’t requested. Normally not an issue, but the room was poorly cleaned—mold in the shower and hairs on the bathroom floor. Pillows smelled like they were not freshly washed. I was short on time and could not request a change.

The worst part came at 5:45am, when I was awakened by loud banging noises from below my room. This went on for ~30 mins. I was so alarmed, I phoned the front desk and they seemed unprepared to address it and said nothing would be looked at until engineers arrived at 8am. Needless to say, my sleep was ruined before a business meeting.

As a returning Hilton Honors member, I will not be staying here again. Just a huge disappointment and really ruined my trip.

Rooms are clean and spacious. This is probably the best located hotel for Church Street access.

That said, the food was not really good at breakfast. Not only that but they ran out of eggs and bacon before the close and had to substitute a lot of items on the menu.

The bartender was alone with two groups and the regular bar customers, poor planning. the next night, we were alone at the bar and they had scheduled 2 bartenders, go figure.
