Quest for the Antarctic Circle – A great adventure & a lifetime experience!!

I took a Quest for the Antarctic Circle adventure trip through AdventureSmith Explorations (ASE). My Antarctica trip was a magnificent, thrilling, and memorable experience! ASE has so many other wonderful ships adventure packages for all around the world and I had recently reached out to them. Not only do they have other great packages, but their service & support are excellent and they also have very knowledgeable & helpful staff!

We recently returned from a 2 week trip to Costa Rica that we arranged through AdventureSmith. This is our third AdventureSmith trip and, as usual, they did not disaapoint! The process of selecting the trip was very easy to navigate and they were able to make adjustments to fit our needs. Communication leading up to the trip and afterwards was excellent. We knew what to expect and had detailed descriptions on what each day would hold. We worked with Andrew and throughout the entire process I felt like we were in great hands. Our first week was aboard the National Geographic Quest sailing north to the Guanacaste, Santa Rosa and Rincon de la Vieja region. The ship was very comfortable and the expedition guides/naturalists were amazing. Our second week was a land tour with local guide, Jose Pablo Ugalde. We rafted the Pacuaure River, visited Arenal and Manuel Antonio. Jose was great! He was fantastic at spotting wildlife and we had a great time traveling with him for a week. Overall, this was a wonderful vacation.

This AdventureSmith trip to Athens/Greek Isles was the trip of a lifetime!! Their expertise setting up all the logistics led to such an amazing experience from start to end. Starting with Athens, we felt like we were in the center of all the sites and culture that we hoped to see. Venturing out of the city to tour the ruins of Delphi was a highlight that gave the experience to see some of the inland of Greece. The next leg of our trip was on the small boat "Galileo". The small boat package was such a great way to see the Isles. It gave the opportunities to see some of the most beautiful pristine areas that are inaccessible to the larger boats. The staff/food was great! The boat was small enough to have wonderful memorable experiences with all the guests and staff but large enough to find those quiet relaxing spaces. All the port locations had a nice variety of scenic beauty. We found that the people of Greece are very warm and accommodating. We highly recommend this experience. Thank you AdventureSmith 🙂

Wow! AdventureSmith Explorations has been absolutely amazing from the very first contact to the final step through my front door. I could not imagine going on another small ship expedition without their assistance. The team at AdventureSmith helped me with everything from trip insurance and flights to paddling and what to pack, and they were spot on with all their recommendations. I had no idea what to expect from an expedition cruise, but AdventureSmith just set the bar incredibly high.

Antarctica, a dream come true that I didn't know I had, beginning with a visit to Elephant Island, then the Weddell Sea, and then to the peninsula! Amazing! Beautiful! I ran out of descriptive words on day three. Awe-inspiring! Vast!

We sailed on the Sylvia Earle, a nearly brand-new ship. The lectures, recaps, food, and kindness of the staff and crew, along with the 75-passenger voyage, made our dream come to life in full color.

While paddling in our kayaks, we encountered seals, penguins, whales, and icebergs. The beauty of the sea level was beyond words. When we crossed the Antarctic Circle, I was overwhelmed with emotions and found myself weeping. Taking the polar plunge at 67.13 was another incredible moment.

We landed back home a week ago today and I am still giddy. Thank you, Kevin and Andrew, for all your suggestions.

This was the trip of a lifetime! Such a unique opportunity to see a part of the world that so few people have the chance to experience. It exceeded every expectation. I would recommend traveling to Antarctica to anyone who loves adventure and the natural beauty of the wild. One of the best trips that I've ever taken! From the ship, to the crew, to the food, my trip to Alaska's Inner Passage was phenomenal. I traveled as a single female and worried about feeling uncomfortable. My fears were unfounded. Everyone was warm and welcoming. All in all, it was a great experience!
