We had such an incredible experience with Ashton Hill, and we were so happy with all the help we received from our Day of Coordinator, MJ Colby.

We decided to go with Ashton Hill after a group tour where they answered questions I didn't even know I should have! While they don't require you to work with any specific vendors, I really appreciated one of our first meetings, where we talked about vendors they've worked with in the past. I loved that they reached out to vendors to see if they had our date available too. That way it already narrowed down who I should reach out to. I'm not a detailed planner, more of a big picture girl, so having MJ to help set up the timeline (some in 5 minute increments!) was everything. I also made some changes with table setup the evening before our wedding, and she took care of it without any concerns.

The day of the wedding, MJ kept us moving, but I never felt rushed - okay maybe when we were trying to talk to our ~200 guests before dinner. Our wedding was mid-November, and it was windy, but I think the photos prove it still looks so beautiful outside. I would absolutely recommend working with MJ and Ashton Hill.

My husband and I got married at Ashton Hill in Cedar Rapids last month and had a flawless experience. From the moment we toured Ashton Hill, we knew that this was the perfect place for us to get married. The venue is beautiful and spacious, with the opportunity for indoor or outdoor ceremonies. Although the venue is a little pricey, it was absolutely worth it in our opinion, especially when you compare similar venues in the area. We also opted for the Day-of Coordinator package. Again, it was pricey and I wish that this cost was included in the venue package, but half of the fee goes towards your bar credit and (I assume) the other half goes directly to the coordinator, which I love because our coordinator, MJ Colby, 100% deserved the fee that we paid and more. She was AMAZING and we could not have planned our wedding without her. I truthfully had no idea about all the small (and big!) details that go into planning a wedding. We had no hiccups on our wedding day that I am aware of, and if there were they were handled professionally and quietly because I didn't hear of anything! It made our wedding day so smooth and enjoyable and if I could go back, I wouldn't change a thing. Another thing that is great about Ashton Hill is the various events that they host throughout the year for their customers, such as wine tastings, dessert tastings, decor viewing, etc. It was fun and informative to attend these events and was a helpful way to get connected with vendors. Thank you thank you thank you for everything over the past 2 years of our engagement!!!!

Ashton Hill is a beautiful venue inside and out! Indoors are quite naturally-lit with neutral colors(a photographer’s dream), and the outdoor ceremony space is perfect- not to mention, the area past the ceremony space is so stunning and perfect for sunset photos 🙂 Gets an A+ from this photographer!

Ashton Hill Farms as a venue was gorgeous and had everything absolutely perfect for our big day! Working with our day of coordinator MJ Colby made everything go so smoothly! MJ is seriously fantastic at her job and honestly I could not have executed a wedding without her help. She was accessible to me anytime I needed something, helped connect me to vendors, reached out throughout the whole planning process to address my questions, checked in with my pre-booked vendors, and more. The day of the wedding not only did she ensure everything was set up just as I had wanted but she took care of any little hiccups that could have come up. She was so on top of everything, I don't even know if there were any hiccups!!! She is SO incredibly fabulous at her job and thinks of the smallest things I never would have considered such as taking the bridal party's drink orders and having them already ready at the head table for us for toasts as one small example. If you are ever considering Ashton Hill Farms as a venue I would 100% recommend for the indoor/outdoor flexibility, the gorgeous scenario, and the spacious building. They seriously thought of everything from getting ready suites, entrance doors, and even down to the layout of the veranda for the outdoor bar. I highly recommend this venue and their day of coordination services (especially if you request MJ Colby!)

Absolutely delighted with our wedding experience! From the stunning venue to the seamless coordination with MJ, every detail was executed flawlessly. She was organized, professional, and incredibly thoughtful! Every detail was meticulously handled, creating a stress-free experience through the entire planning process to the wedding day. Beautiful venue. MJ was good to work with and quickly responded to questions and concerns. She helped keep the stress level low. The bartenders were a little slow and not much personality but that was my only complaint.

Went here for a friend's daughter's booth at a craft show and was blown away by everything about the venue. Spacious, wide open, beautiful, and clean. It is easily one of the top wedding/event venues in the area. Located off of Highway 13, it is easy to find and plenty of parking. Full bar and just a really nice spot. Several alcoves and nooks throughout. The back garden area is beautiful in itself. If I wasn't already married i would have my wedding here.

I wish I could give this review a 10/10 because that's what Ashton Hill Farm in Cedar Rapids deserves! I couldn't recommend this venue enough. It truly has it all: beautiful indoor and outdoor space, spacious bridal and groom suites, thoughtful and dedicated staff, affordable pricing. It was one of the best decisions we made involving our wedding.

One of the main reasons our experience with Ashton Hill Farm was so great was our DOC, MJ. She truly made our day go so smoothly and we didn't have to worry about anything; we were able to be so present throughout the whole day. She handled all the vendor coordination while working with us to ensure all the decor was set up the way we want along with brought her own ideas in areas we might not have thought through as much during planning. I wish all couples would get to have MJ with them on their day! If you are questioning hiring a DOC or not, DO IT and I promise you won't regret it 🙂
