OK, so this review is of the historic Barstow train station which is located along the railroad tracks. Many of the reviews I see here are for the Barstow Station -- which is NOT this place. The Barstow Station has a McDonalds with a bunch of old train cars and is next to the freeway so please ignore any reviews which appear to be for that place. I wish Google offered a way for me to tell them that the reviewer has the wrong place.
Anyway, this station was built in 1911, and featured one of the Santa Fe railroad's famous Harvey Houses, which offered a consistent, quality experience to travelers at a time when accommodations near railstations were often dodgy.
Inside the well-preserved station, you'll find a museum and beautiful architecture from the era.
This place is also the current Amtrak station. One train per day passes each way on the Southwest Chief. Unfortunately, the scheduled times are in the middle of the night, and there is not much else nearby here, so I imagine that this station can feel dangerous if you're waiting for a train at those hours.

Barstow Station has so much to offer. Barstow station has a panda express, McDonald’s, Wetzels pretzels, Kona tea and Grill, Subway and some of the best Beef Jerky in Town, also greyhound bus rides are available at this location.

So fun it’s like a food court/shopping area and it’s a lot of fun. I would recommend stopping here for anyone there’s lots of different things to eat and there’s a Popeyes and a Starbucks across the street great place and it’s built around a train station or an old train car at least.

Very negative reception and an unpredictable homeless population. It seems like everyone on foot is literally crazy, on drugs, or both. Practically only hotels and fast food. Won't likely have a reason to return.

This is a beautiful building in very good condition. The staff is friendly and don’t mind people just there to look.

Quite an adventure you never know what’s on the other side of the highway we pulled over small little town was discovered what a great deal of history part of Route 66 as well as the trains were magnificent on display hands-on this is a place that I stop every single time when I’m headed in that direction really incredible for being out in the middle of nowhere the area is growing and shaping up this little section the train station is cool we made it over the old bridge twice wow! If you get a chance to go you could see it all in about 10 minutes the problem is you’re having so much fun with the trains and discovering new little things you don’t realize how much time you’ve spent there magnificent!

This is a bus station for Amtrak and Greyhound located at one of the historic Harvey Houses right off Route 66. The building has a Route 66 museum that you can check out if you get there early before going on a trip. Don't expect someone to pick up your bags here. There are no handlers. It's just a cool place to be while waiting for a ride. As for taking the Amtrak train, I was pleasantly surprised. They have a shop where you can buy food and they also sell drinks. Since I was not driving, I definately took advantage of the drinks to make my ride a little more chill.

Amtrak picks up and drops off here. Used Amtrak 9/25/21… Terrible experience boarding. This place is basically deserted with no cameras or security to stand by, at night it was so scary. I literally debated to get off and wait at the platform. Luckily it arrived early and breaked for 10-15 minutes allowing time to get out of the car and abroad right away without waiting in the dark. Parking lot is scary at night LITERALLY. No check in kiosk, taxi or car rental available.
