We called #2 cabin at Bear Creek our home for 2 fantastic months. We cooked most of our meals in the cabin and had several campfires too. We had guests visiting from home so we had 4 adults in the cabin most of the time and it worked very nicely. The other cabins were filled with congenial and considerate folks that added smiles to our faces on a daily basis. The owner, Donna, is not only a gracious hostess but also an accomplished artist. Talent runs in her family, her husband creates custom stringed instruments. The location is close to town but still offers a beautiful environment. In simple words, it is a great place to stay.

I stayed here for 2 nights with a friend - it was pretty much like camping, but with a small cabin instead of a tent. The cabin was heated, which was a pleasent surprise since we had stayed at a cabin with no electricity the night before. the location is pretty good - we had a vehicle, and the drive into town and surrounding trails was short. The washrooms are pretty clean, and there is a kitchen with a fridge and stove if needed. When we were there, we think there was one other cabin in use. So, it was extremely quiet, and never any wait for the washrooms/showers. Overall, I was quite content with this place, and if you dont care about a fancier hotel, I would highly recommend it 🙂 One thing that we did appreciate having was our own sleeping bags, and cheap pillows we had picked up at the walmart in Whitehorse. Just made us feel better not having to use the bed sheets provided 😉

This is the only accommodation of it’s kind in Haines, and is well worth staying at. Prices were affordable – we originally rented a cabin for two, but were put in the larger ‘hostel cabin’ that had more space, all to ourselves! (Don’t think this is common practice; might have been due to timing and availability). We stayed two nights and though we didn’t spend much time at the hostel, we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing by the fireside after a long day. Nothing about this place screams ‘hostel’ – it’s more of an outdoor cabin-style accommodation. We did end up meeting some lovely folks in the common dining area and fireside, and spent our two nights sharing our stories of the road. ||||Staff were quite discreet, but we didn’t really need them at any one point (save check in). Facilities include free WiFi and showers as well as a fully equipped kitchen. Site was well maintained and clean. Can be a little tricky to find – make sure you bring a map! ||||Happy trails!

Basic but spacious and comfortable cabins (double bed plus 2 bunk beds). Fully-equipped kitchen cabin. Separate toilet and shower unit. Very friendly. Plenty of parking (or a short walk from downtoen Haines). Highly recommended.
