If you live in the Danbury area and you are looking for a quiet preserve to hike with small children or dogs, look no further... The park is extremely well marked and maintained and you can decide the amount of miles you want to hike very easily. If you are up to it, I recommend descending to the water. It's a little rocky but the reward is guaranteed. Otherwise, opt for all the other well shaded trails.

We were looking for somewhere different to take our new puppy. This trail didn't disappoint! My middle school-aged kids loved the exercise and stretching equipment, too, those were an added surprise. We stuck with the red trail, which was a nice loop, but next time we go, we'll explore some of the outer trails.

Another lovely hike along the white trail this round. These trails are short in comparison to others but stern inclines give a good work out. You never feel too isolated as neighboring homes are visible in the autumn months. Dogs are welcome which is always nice and the trails are generally well maintained. Some years back an obstacle course of exercise stations were installed at the start of the hike, to be honest, I don’t see much use for these nor many people using them. Those are a bit out of place.

Nice place to go to with a variety of trails. I went with my two dogs and they loved it. Make sure you have flea collars of course and avoid going to the fields near the entrance. We made the mistake of going into that field when we were leaving to avoid some dogs that were coming and and my dogs ended up with ticks walking on their legs. They didn’t latch on since both my dogs had their collars, but just be careful

Beautiful trails, great for a walk on a cool, crisp fall day. The foilage is gorgeous to see this time of year. It's so peaceful. And it seems everyone, including me had a dog with them. The doggy liked it, too.

Nice easy trails in a forested area and a nice place to relax. Not very crowded even on a holiday weekend. The lake view is nice, but the side trail to get there is a workout.

Paved parking lot accommodates roughly thirty cars. Cans of Sapporo strewn on the ground, so at least we’re dealing with upscale litterbugs. Trailhead named after John F Kennedy, but hopefully the hike will work out better for you. There is a ruin of what may have been a pen for livestock, with remnants of a burnt door. Along the trail are varying exercise machines, on top of rubberized matting. Birdhouses dot the clearings to the side. A sign warns you not to disturb “geologic formations,” so careful when walking lest you scatter some pebbles.

Beautiful preserve many trails to choose from. Dogs allowed... nice views of candlewood lake. Some of the trails are difficult steep and rocky. It's very bug I got lost a couple of times. But eventually made it back. All in all a great day
