I stayed in the lookoff mountain campsite. The hike from the lake is strenuous but very rewarding. If you are looking for a great backcountry experience, look no further. Just remember to pack light! You will also have to bring your own water.

Great view from the visitor center parking lot on at the Black Mountain Overlook. We also enjoyed the Blue Ridge Overlook further down the hill. From those two spots, you can see South Carolina and North Carolina mountains. The one thing was we couldn't find a restroom when the visitor center closed at 5p. So we did leave the park earlier.

Stayed in cabin #9, beautiful views, immaculately clean 2BR 2 Bath with full kitchen. 3 queen beds, huge porch with rocking chairs, table and chairs, picnic table, outside grill and fire pit. We enjoyed 5 days with wonderful sunsets and sunrises and one beautiful day of snow!

The drive up to the park is awesome - curvy and with great views. You can park at a couple overlooks but most can also be reached when you hike the trails. Staff was super friendly! There were still a few large downed trees along the James Edmunds section that we had to climb or navigate through which was not beginner friendly but as this is a more difficult hike anyways it was fine with us! Still worth it for the beautiful scenery, great trails and peaceful environment. The trails are marked very well!
It was not too busy and we had the trails to ourselves for most of our 11.72 mile hike! Will definitely be back!

Spectacular view of the fall colors, mountains from the top of the mountain. Thrilling ride up and down the mountain through the steep roads. Parking is limited as expected the top of the mountain, but it's worth the drive.

Fortunately, we got to experience the mist and cloud in the early morning, which was completely unexpected, and got an unobstructed view of the fall colors afterwards. Double bonus in a single trip.

The lake and the trail around the lake is superb and the view of the mountain from the banks of the lake is spectacular. The pictures speak for itself.

The staff at the information center and the entrance is extremely friendly and helpful.

We will visit there again for sure.

This location is truly one of the most spectacular spots to take in the full grandeur of the fall season. From here, you get an unobstructed, panoramic view of the landscape, stretching across miles of vibrant autumn foliage. The scene is breathtaking, with hills and valleys draped in a mosaic of rich reds, fiery oranges, deep yellows, and lush greens. The rolling landscape seems to glow under the soft autumn light, creating a mesmerizing display that feels almost like stepping into a painting.

This park has some wonderful overlooks of the Great Smokey and Blue Ridge mountains. The park is dog friendly and has plenty of viewpoint overlooks and trails to choose from. We hiked the Tennessee Rock trail that looped around and provided beautiful, scenic views of the valley below.
