We rented the Inn to have a friends getaway. We loved the location history and the Inn’s paranormal history. The location is kept immaculate and the owner, Carol, was hospitable and so friendly. We wanted for nothing and we were left with the run of the house when she left us. The spirits did not disappoint and I highly recommend this place for any kind of getaway you’re looking for. The breakfast was delicious and the host was amazing.

We stayed in the Adelaide room and the stay was amazing. Carol, Ted, Nellie and John were beyond kind and helpful. The room is beautiful. The breakfast was really good. The game room with the pool table is a nice addition. Could not recommend high enough. Will definitely visit again!

This is a historic inn owned by a lovely couple. The staff I met, Nellie and John, were two of the nicest people. Upon check-in, Nellie told us to make ourselves at home, and added, “Literally make yourself at home.” We did! This was such a fun little getaway for my sister and me. It was a rainy, foggy day/night, and we had just spent several hours running around checking out nearby used bookstores. We got comfortable and had dinner by ordering DoorDash. We played pool on the beautiful antique pool table, made late-night tea, and lounged in our room reading by the fireplace. Other guests were delightful to chat with, and breakfast was so, so good! Carol and Ted, the owners, joined us, and it was super nice to get to know them a little. Our room, as well as the whole house, was extremely clean—not remotely dusty—which is impressive for such an old house. Both my sister and I truly enjoyed our stay so much and look forward to going back in the summer when we can explore the area more and hang out around the fire pit. Be clear about the fact that you are not booking some high-end luxury hotel—it’s a charming B&B in a home rich with history, run by really great people! And PS: We stayed in the Adelaide room and found the rumors to be true—things do get a little spooky. 😉

We arrived later than expected and the two onsite caretakers/staff were fabulous and oh so friendly. They welcomed us warmly and showed us to our room, then recommended a local Italian for our dinner. We stayed in the Adelaide Room which was cozy and comfortable. We had a great nights sleep. The breakfast the next morning was fabulous. We really enjoyed our stay at the Inn and wish we had more time there. We highly recommend staying at this property with the amazing staff and accommodation. 10/10. Overall fantastic.

We had a lovely time at the inn. As lovers of history and historical homes, we felt very fortunate to walk the halls and grounds of such a charming place. ||We stayed 4 nights and as time went on, it felt more like visiting with family than renting from an establishment. The owners and staff were very thoughtful about making sure we were having a good stay. From remembering how we like our coffee, to recommending places to visit, and taking an interest in our days’ adventures, we felt truly welcome and comfortable at Captain Grant’s. Special callout to Nelly, she is amazing and an absolute gem!||The furniture and decor was very cozy. The bed was comfy, and the shower was hot with perfect pressure, just how we like it. Conversations were engaging, breakfasts were tasty, and we enjoyed sips of the complimentary sherry at the conclusion of every evening. ||I would offer only one minor detail to future guests for their own awareness. The website describes that complimentary desserts are offered each day. Prior to our visit, I read many reviews online raving about Carol’s homemade baked goods, and we were really looking forward to sampling her treats! We were offered Keebler-type packaged cookies for our stay. Not quite what we were expecting, but we did get to try her strawberry-rhubarb compote at breakfast and received a complimentary dessert at a nearby restaurant because we were guests of the inn, which left our cravings satisfied.||We’re looking forward to visiting the inn again!!

My boyfriend and I stayed for our anniversary, and it was such a great idea. The inn is so cozy (especially in the winter, it snowed which added to the ambiance) and the breakfasts were great and filling. Also Carol, Ted, Nellie, and John were all so sweet -- I would recommend this inn to anyone passing through the area!

Beautiful historic building with wonderful hosts and a comfy bed! They were kind and flexible as I was arriving fairly late (after 10pm.)

Breakfast was tasty, with fresh fruit, delicious biscuits and sausage gravy and nicely fried eggs. Additionally, they were very accommodating to another guest who was vegetarian and brought her jams and offered her other options too.

Would definitely stay again!
