We wanted to get a little taste of Carmel in one day so booked this tour. We met Amber, who was a local gal who gave us great backgrounds on the restaurants she brought us to. We had a a small group that felt like a private tour! Our favorite was quiche at a local bakery and chili served with a beautiful Cabernet at a historic restaurant. Amber was a gracious hostess and we are already planning our next trip to Central Coast California. This Food Tour is a perfect way to find your next “best restaurant ever!”

It was my first ever food tour, and I was very impressed. Our guide was a local who was very perfeshional and a pleast person to be around. The tour is a great way to learn your way around and taste the great foods that otherwise you would may have never known about. Highly recommend, especially if you're new to Carmel.

It was a beautiful day to walk around Carmel by the Sea. We made 6 stops on the tour. Most of the food was very good. Why I can't give this a higher rating is that when we booked, they asked if we had any food restrictions and I indicated my husband didn't eat red meat. Not that he was a vegetarian. At two of the stops, he was served a very basic salad while the rest of us ate hearty hot food. It feels like more care could be taken to ensure that there is more variety and someone isn't served the same thing twice. Couldn't they have served him some chicken or fish? So, for two salads, a taste of honey, two chocolates, a small piece of pizza and a small slice of quiche he paid $150.00. That's a bit steep. I was disappointed. And, I felt especially bad because it was a gift I had given to him.

I recently went on an unforgettable food tour that truly exceeded my expectations! From start to finish, it was an incredible experience that allowed me to see the charm of the city through its vibrant food scene. The tour guide was a fantastic storyteller with a deep knowledge of the city’s history and culinary traditions, making every stop not just a tasting. Each dish we tried was better than the last, showcasing a perfect mix of local favorites and hidden gems that I never would have found on my own.

The guide’s passion for the city and its food really brought everything to life, and I left with a much greater appreciation for the city's unique flavors. The tour was worth every penny—it offered a generous amount of food, along with wonderful insights and fun company. If you're looking for a delicious and immersive way to explore the city, this food tour is a must!

This was our first trip to Carmel and what an absolutely wonderful introduction. Our tour guide, Bonnie, was knowledgeable of the area, funny, personable and extremely wonderful. The restaurants we tried Patrisserie Boisssiere, Grasings, Lula's, Carmel Honey Co., Anton & Michele and Carmel Cafe were all absolutely wonderful. Even made an extra lap back to Carmel Cafe for some coffee, Bonnie's recommendation, and it was fantastic.

Highly recommend this tour, it was a nice way to eat some food, get in some steps and try some really great wine.

Thank you, Bonnie!!!

We take food tours in virtually every city we visit, both domestically and globally. Today’s Carmel Food Tour is the best one I have ever taken! Stopping at six different restaurants, each had different offerings. But the quality, portion size snd taste of the food and drink were equally excellent! And our tour guide, Bonnie was wonderful. She was personable, creative and enjoyable. Not only did she seem to know everything about Carmel, past and present, but she seemed to know every person we passed on the street. Her stories about the lore of Carmel were both interesting and educational. So if you want to experience great food and drink, great fun, and learn a lot about this beautiful place, this tour is highly recommended!!

My third time taking the tour with Carmel Food Tours during the 2020 Thanksgiving weekend was a little different from the previous two due to the pandemic. It was stylishly named 'Standing Room Only" food tour!

The group today was six guests, four of us and a nice couple, and the tour guide Bonnie (I think that's what she said but with the mask on I could be wrong, sorry). I really enjoyed her company. She was very pleasant and made me feel really welcomed and comfortable.

Because of the "Standing Room Only" theme of the tour, I really didn't know what to expect. However, much to my surprise, we ended up seated (outdoor) at three of the five stops. I'm not sure if I should reveal the details, so I'll only share the high-level summary here. Five stops in two hours included (not in order) two casual tasting spots for honey and for chocolate, pairing of wine with small bites, and two more stops enough for a late lunch, with bottled water and with alcoholic beverage. The walks between the spots were easy and at comfortable pace. I'm far from fit but could easily manage. Taking shortcuts on some of many, many alleys of Carmel-by-the-Sea was a lot of fun too.

Weather in Carmel-by-the-Sea is like San Francisco. November is often sunny and beautiful. So, naturally we were sun-kissed and no jacket or scarf was needed. All you need is a pair of comfortable shoes and of course your mask (if you are going anytime soon) 😉

Signing up is very easy online. If there are any questions, online chat works great. Once booked, the information such as the meeting spot, direction, tips are easy to understand. Restrooms are available at some stops. Discounts were offered for purchases at honey and chocolate shops.
I would love to go again when the pandemic is all over!!
