Very clean and comfortable. My room was on the 3rd floor and they have an elevator and luggage carts. The bed was just right with nice pillows and bedding. Hot water with good pressure. Nice little balcony. Staff was friendly and efficient. The Boardwalk is right across the street. I'll definitely return, it's a very good place!

While I think this hotel is expensive for what you get, you can't fault the location of it. It's a 30-second walk from the main boardwalk which is perfect. The rooms were clean while dated and the breakfast was small but can't complain given it was free. The manager, Michael, went above and beyond to return some valuable items to us that we left behind. He was very efficient in communicating with us and with sending the items.

It is a nice motel if you just need a place to spend the night. It is right next to the pier. Mayor plus point is the hotel parking. The breakfast is a good. It is in line with the price of the room. The bad is only for showering. That was a bit of a disappointment because looked forward to a bad. The room had a verrrrrry big TV, microwave and fridge.

This place is run down and definitely not worth the stay, there are plenty of other hotels nearby that are much nicer. There were huge chunks of plaster missing from the walls, the bath tub had a dead cockroach in it, and one of the chairs had half of the plastic seating torn off. I didn't realize this until I came away with a gash across the back of my leg. Not a great way to end a vacation!
The breakfast "buffet" is bagels or bread. That was half an hour after it opened so I can assume that is all they offer. There are also no coffee makers in the rooms so you have to trek downstairs and across the parking lot to get a cup.
There are many more customer-friendly options in Santa Cruz: even the Comfort Inn was not as run-down or bug-infested as this place.

It is what it is, a low priced somewhat renovated beach Motel. Staff was flexible on letting me check in early, which I very much appreciated. Easy walk to restaurants on the wharf, longer walk to downtown.

My family has been staying at Carousel Bean Inn for over 15 years, we love coming here. It may be a “two star” hotel, but in my opinion the renovated rooms, location, service, free parking, and complimentary breakfast make it a three star experience! The rooms are beautiful, and spacious enough for us to fit the pack n play for our 6 month old baby. The fridge with a freezer compartment was awesome for storing ice from the ice machine, and the microwave made heating baby food convenient. They also have an AC unit which is essential for hot nights with a kid! The king bed was super comfortable and soft. Being right across the street from the beach and boardwalk makes things a breeze. We were running behind in the morning with the baby, and the staff were gracious enough to allow us a late checkout. Super friendly front desk staff upon check-in as well! Not to mention the breakfast was amazing. Fanciest waffle I’ve ever had at a hotel breakfast. They had an ample selection of breakfast foods to fill up even big eaters, and we loved the HUGE fuji apples they had (most places usually have red delicious apples, which let’s face it, are never good). We will be staying here every time we come to the boardwalk with the family. 🙂

Rooms are decent - beds are OK. It is an older building, but the price and location is great. AC unit is loud as it cuts on and off at night. The guy at the desk when we checked in was super nice and friendly on the phone as well. Continental breakfast is a plus, no protein other than cream cheese and yogurt, but it kept us full until an early lunch. Within short driving distance to cute shops in Santa Cruz, Natural Bridges State Park, etc. Enjoyed a beautiful sunrise walk on the beach and ended the night prior at the boardwalk with yummy food and fun rides!!
