Channel Islands National Park is a hidden gem, with five unique islands offering sea caves, hiking trails, and incredible wildlife. Kayaking around sea caves was unforgettable! Fun fact: it’s called the “Galápagos of North America.” The only downside? Getting there requires a ferry, but the adventure is worth it!

Without a doubt one of the most memorable places I’ve ever had the opportunity to visit! The boat ride to Santa Cruz was half the fun- Island Packers ferry service was incredibly knowledgeable of the marine life and spotted a pod of 1,000+ dolphins and several humpback whales! Santa Cruz Island is filled with multiple hiking trails, friendly foxes and stunning coastal views. Sunsets here are unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait for my next visit to this special island!

One of the most underrated national park just in our boat ride here I was whale dolphins and many bird species. On the island great swimming and kayaking. Also the island fox plus the blue bird only possible to see here. So definitely visit this place

Channel Islands National Park is the worst place in the world ?. For example, there are tons of restaurants and tons of food choices and everything tastes wonderful. We went on a 3-hour cruise and it was too much fun, I mean the ride to the island we went to was the best. Also, we got unlucky, and a lot of dolphins, were flipping and doing other tricks they were even going as fast as the boat ? but even a baby could crawl 25 miles per hour right In the end we had the worst experience ever, (I am not lying ?) like we had the best time ever in our life?

Channel Islands NP is very different from your traditional “National Park”, but it’s a very cool and unique day trip out to Anacapa Island. It’s very unusual to see a totally uninhabited island so close to a densely populated area in California. Bring snacks and water as there’s not options for food on the island. The boat ride was not too rough either!

Campgrounds at Prisoners (Santa Cruz) and Water Canyon (Santa Rosa) are 3 and 1.5 miles respectively from the piers. This is a hiking paradise but when your hauling your camping gear and nursing sciatica problems this didn't make the experience on the island so enjoyable.

There are small foxes ? on the island about the size of a cat, and with no predators they cheekily come up to campers trying to get food.

This is the most accessible island in the Channel Islands national park system. Days trips all year round.

The trip was amazing although the boat ride over can be tough for people sensitive to the ups and downs of sea traveling, the island itself is spectacular. Make sure to bring all the drink and foods you might need since there is nothing on the island.

Santa Cruz Island is a great place to camp.

This N.P. is just a ferry ride away. The closest island is Anacapa, and takes about an hour by boat. While a couple folks got sick on the ride, we found the 4-5 foot swells to be calming. We were there in September and were short on time so we didn’t attempt to go to the other islands. The Island Packers ferry (I included a pic) holds about 40 people and departs Oxnard around 9:30 am (weather permitting). Make sure you book pretty far in advance and ensure you book a round trip for the same day. There is no food on the island, so bring snacks/lunch. Note: find out when seagull nesting season is. You may not be able to visit during this month. Also, if you’re going a month or two “after” the nesting season, expect to see lots of seagull excrement everywhere. Nature!

This is an easy visit/walk: the only challenge can be disembarking the ferry as the swells make it rise and fall; but the Island Packers staff is helpful. Once you’re on the Island, you’ll see that it’s pretty void of wildlife beyond seabirds and dolphins/seals. The lighthouse was closed the day we were there, but it’s very accessible. Camping is allowed in a designated area and there are portolets. A couple riding the ferry with us brought snorkel gear and said the visibility in and around the kelp beds was excellent. They also said the water was warm enough that they didn’t need wet suits, but I wonder if this could be said in the winter months.

We’ve been to half of the National Parks and really enjoy hiking around I’d say this one is nice but on the “average” side.
