Nick was awesome! A third generation Alaskan, Nick was born and raised in Ketchikan, worked for 20+ years as a commercial fisherman, and clearly knew the best ways to salmon fish. He was an expert fisherman and guide. It was clear he cared, even on our slow day he was non stop changing lures, adjusting the lines, and finding the best places to move the boat…which we did not necessarily see from other fisherman in the area. With snacks, drinks, and a bathroom we were very comfortable on Nick’s very clean boat. 1000% recommend Nick and hope everyone can go fishing with him!

I have to admit that I almost didn’t book with Nick at Chasin’ Tails but after reaching out to quite a few guides and him getting recommendations from a few that were booked, I gave him a shot and I am so happy I did. I chartered his boat on 7/21/23 for 6 hours with a total of 5 people and we had the best time of our lives on the water. Not only did we catch our limit of 30 pinks and 30 silvers but we also managed to catch lots of kings that were a little small for the size limits. In 4 hours of actual fishing (plus 1-hour travel to and from fishing grounds) we hooked up over 100 times and after all was said and done we were fortunate enough to have a humpback whale come within 30 feet of the boat to congratulate us on our catch! Total Alaskan package! And although Nick won’t guarantee the same results, I trust his judgement 100%. My family has 140+lbs of fish coming home with us to prove that Nick knows what he is doing!

Nick did an absolutely amazing job. He ran the 4 of us all over the waters to help us fill our limits. He did it himself without a deck hand and worked his butt off We had a great time.

He educated us a ton about the tides, fish and more. Very patient with helping 4 of us on polesand was great to conversate with. We ended up with a great haul. Hitting our Full limit on pinks, caught some Coho and chum. Caught a cool rockfish but we couldn't keep it. But made a great photo. We would absolutely recommend him

Highlight of our week! Captain Nick was fantastic! Clean and beautiful boat with great amenities. This was my family’s first salmon fishing trip and we will definitely be back! Captain Nick was so knowledgeable, helpful, and patient with us. The boys had a blast. Thank you so much Captain Nick! Looking forward to having some salmon in the freezer.

What an awesome fishing charter we had with Nick recently. Nick was very pleasant when we booked the trip with him. He explained the different options of fishing. He made sure that we booked the charter we wanted. Any questions we had prior to the charter he responded to promptly. The day of the trip was beyond amazing. Our party of four were very impressed. Nick took us to an area for salmon fishing, set us all up to fish, explained what we needed to do and we caught salmon, we caught our limit in no time. Upon arriving back at the dock, Nick cut up a salmon for us to enjoy for dinner that night. Nick also suggested some things for us to do in Ketchikan, hiking trails, along with some good eating places. Our family would definitely recommend a fishing Charter with Nick, you will not be disappointed.

Went out fishing with Captain Nick for the day and it was incredible! He’s extremely knowledgeable of the area and passionate about what he does! We caught a lot of fish and had the best time admiring the beauty of the wildlife and the area. We had so much fun, can’t wait to come back and fish with Nick!

We just returned home from our Alaskan Adventure and our 1/2 day trip spent with Captain Nick was the absolute highlight of the trip for the entire family! Our kids are still talking about the time we spent! Everything was absolutely perfect from the meet up off the shuttle bus, his beatutiful boat, catching 26 salmon (we can't wait to receive them-being shipped home) to his instructions to us and the kids when we hooked the fish, even the snacks he had for us onboard! Just a perfect day! We have already recommended him to all of our friends for their trips next summer! Thank you Captain Nick!

We chartered with Chasin Tail in July 2021. Captain Nick was awesome. He knows the Ketchikan waters like the back of his hand and was able to navigate to different areas to maximize our time catching fish. I have been fishing in Alaska for over 20 years and this was one of the most successful days on the water I have had in a long time. It was also a great first time experience for my two sons and wife.
