It's beautiful, well planned, and mostly well kept. You can spot beautiful birds here so if you're a bird photographer enthusiast, bring your tripod and camera gear.

I love driving here to hang out for a bit when I have nothing else to do. It's very calm and relaxing. I'm surprised at how much this ferry runs on weekdays, you won't be waiting for more than 5 mins on either side. 4 starts because of the very limited parking if not using the ferry.

Oldest operating feet in the US. It’s a short trip across. The views up and down the river are gorgeous! You also get a great view of Gillette castle.

They can fit up to 9 cars on the boat so the line moves quickly. Price is $5 weekdays and $6 weekends.

Just 10 minutes for back and forth. Ferry can take 3 cars at one trip (it costs $6.00 with driver) and pedestrians (just $2.00). It is a historical ferry and the second oldest in Connecticut.

Very scenic area, Essex Steam train passes by the slip, Gillette Castle State Park across the Connecticut River on the east side. The ship is named "Selden III", serving for the last 75 years as of this post .

a fun way to spice up an otherwise mundane trip through connecticut. the process to get on the ferry is seamless, and it’s well worth the couple of dollars you pay to cross plus you get a sneak peek at the castle up on the hill, its a nice view of the waterway as you cross it. took just a few minutes and helps you get out of the car to look at some nature during your drive.
