We had a wonderful time with Chilkoot Charters. Our guide Jenny was fabulous! We were a small group of maybe 10 and had a whole railroad car to ourselves. We rode the train up, got off in Fraser, BC and Jenny was waiting with the van. The meal at Carcross was delicious! Jenny was so knowledgeable, entertaining and helpful it just made the trip even more enjoyable. I felt we got the best of both views by doing both the train and the van ride and would highly recommend!

We did morning train/bus trip. Train ride up to Fraser was amazing with dry conditions and beautiful views! Ongoing narrative inside train car was very helpful. We then hopped on the bus for quite personal experience with Mike as we traveled back to Skagway. We stopped at many viewpoints on the White Pass and ended up being a wonderful day!

Amazing Experience

We did the Bennett Tour - yes, it’s 8 hours but amazing. Loved going all the way up to Carcross Yukon.

Mike our driver was fantastic, great personality, Great storyteller.

Coming back next year and will 100% book with Chilkoot Charters again.

My family did the Yukon Klondike Adventure and it was absolutely incredible. The pictures don’t do it justice and I didn’t get pictures of the puppies or the sheep, but super cool. Our guide, Scotty was great at getting everyone involved, all 11 of us which you know you’re not getting that small of a group on a cruise line sponsored tour. I thought he was a hoot, and he serenaded us with his rendition of Rodger Miller’s king of the road.

While this next part was in no way “cool”, it was (to me) the most impressive thing I’ve seen from a company. On our way back to Skagway one of their divers experienced a medical emergency which caused a single car accident. Our driver stopped and made sure everyone got out of the vehicle safely and, with the assistance of medical personnel that were on tour, made sure that anyone needing first aid was tended to until first responders arrived. Additionally they called in another driver on her day off (shout out to Jenny!) who got to us from Skagway to get the people that didn’t need to remain on site were taken back to port. She remained completely professional and as “cheerful” as you’d expect a tour guide to be on a normal tour but after she got us all back to port you could tell that she, like Scotty, was seriously affected by their colleague and friend being injured and turned right around to go back to see how else she could help. All of that and we were only an hour later getting back to port than scheduled, which still was at least 2 hours before the all aboard of the earliest ship one of us was on.

TL:DR - Amazing tours run by employees who are fun, yet professional, and respond quickly and compassionately in an emergency situation. Exactly the type of people you’d want to be leading you in an emergency and I can not recommend this company, their tours, and their tour guides highly enough. If you’re in Skagway, take one of their tours. If I’m back in town I absolutely will.

Had a great time with the 5 hour bus & rail tour.
Matt was our guide and he was friendly , professional and concise!
He provided lots of useful information and seemed to genuinely enjoy his job.
We stopped at scenic spots and did not feel rushed but instead we all had the common goal to get to our destinations on time while also taking in the sites!

However , reading reviews about these other drivers honking bears out of the road and flipping off other companies needs REVIEW . Please have those employees reprimanded.
Now this just makes me question rebooking with the company in the future … management should reply to these reviews for clarification .

While in port in Skagway with our NCL ship, we took the 6.5-hour Yukon Klondike Adventure tour with Chilkoot Charters & Tours, and it was spectacular. We stopped at multiple locations for photo opportunities, including scenic overlooks, snow-capped mountains, and emerald-colored lakes. We also had lunch at Wild Adventure Yukon, formerly known as Caribou Crossing Trading Post. The entire trip offered breathtaking views and the overall experience was unforgettable. Our guide, Shamira, (spelling?) was fantastic—knowledgeable, personable and took the time to capture individual group photos at various locations. The pickup at the cruise port went smoothly. We took our ship's shuttle to the end of the pier and found the representative with the Chilkoot sign. Upon return from the excursion, we were among the ones dropped off in town. It was a great excursion and our best off all ports!

We loved this tour! Matt took us up to Frasier. He told us interesting facts about the area. And we stopped at beautiful places for pictures. We rode the train down.

We did the Yukon Rail Adventure with Matt as our guide and I cannot say enough good things about him! He was so informative and was able to relate to everyone and answer questions. He took pictures of everyone and was just the friendliest guy. It’s so nice to get a tour from someone who really seems to enjoy it. Thanks, Matt - Hang on to him, Chilkoot!
