This is undeniably one of the top five places to visit in Hartford! The gold-leaf-domed Victorian Gothic building, which is located right near Bushnell Park, stands out from its surrounding buildings such as the Legislative Office Building and Museum of Connecticut History. Connecticut State Capitol has a truly and unbelievably impressive architecture! Highly recommend to go on their guided tours to learn about the history of the Capitol.

Extremely cool tour! Very insightful hour and a half tour that covered everything from the buildings unique history, to the journey Connecticut had on becoming a state and also how a bill becomes a law. Worth the time to see the old statues and hear the founding stories.

We travel many months each year and always visit state Capitols when we can. We have probably toured 25. This is the most beautiful on the outside, and a close runner up for the inside. Gorgeous lighting coming in from the sky lights makes for a restful effect on the 4 floors of archways, staircases, and hallways.

This State Capitol building is very different from its New England counterparts. The tour guides were well-informed. A good way to spend an hour.
