I've been traveling for several days and for the next few days I'll be camping in a nearby campground. Someone told me about this place because campers of course like to have showers. I stopped by just for that purpose but realized it was a great recreation center with a lot of amenities! The person at the service desk, Vincent, was extremely helpful and friendly. This is a great place to go and use the facilities for only $5!

I really enjoy lap swimming at the Cottonwood Rec Center. The front desk managers and the lifeguards are all so courteous and professional. Props to Vincent, Abby, and Mary at the front desk and Delaney and Maddy at the pool for their exceptional service :).

We had the loveliest afternoon in the pool today. The life guards were watching carefully and very courteous to us and our family. The place was so fun and well maintained.
The front desk person was so kind and helpful to us. Cottonwood has a great thing here and so lucky. We enjoyed and will be back with our grandchildren.

A True Lifesaver for the Grandkids!
We’re so grateful for this wonderful recreational center—especially during Arizona’s warm weather when we’d run out of places to take the grandkids. The pools are clean, and the showers are spotless. Having lifeguards on duty at all times gives me real peace of mind. It’s become our go-to spot and a real gem for families!

Creeps roam here and STAFF MEMBERS will protect them. This happened in the men’s locker room!! Please be aware of your surroundings and protect yourself and the kids from these monsters. Look at all the other reviews from people who had to deal with these creeps. Seems to be common here

When a man was taking photos of children in the pool area, staff didn’t care. Apparently this is a man who comes to the pool almost daily and does this. I don’t feel comfortable bringing my children here knowing they can be videoed and photographed by a concerning individual and the rec center just turns a blind eye

We love the rec. I work for the city so my membership is covered and there's a discount for family members. We'd happily pay full price though.

We've utilized the bathrooms and indoor pool/kid pool area. The lifeguards are on watch as we are. Some kids can be kind of jerks but the lifeguards have always addressed it.

We love signing up for parents night out. This last one for Valentine's day , apparently we were the only ones who did sign up ! We got there and the front desk had no idea and it wasn't on their schedule and I thought that's weird. So we got in touch with the director and one of the employees offered to come in with her kids and my heart melted. My kid was so looking forward to the night away from us and they made it happen just for her.

There are cameras watching most places in the event of issues and I appreciate that. They also have weights, cardio, classes, and an outdoor pool we can't wait to try when it warms up.

There seems to be a lot of improvements coming to the center in the new year or so and we're excited to see what happens!

I would love the rec center, unfortunately the grounds tend to be ruled by unsupervised adolescents and even younger kids, not all on their best behavior. I switched to Snap Fitness a couple of months ago but needed a single gym trip after needing to pause my Snap membership. It didn’t take long to remember why I left the Rec: the crowds of unsupervised youth. Most are well-behaved but unfortunately as I went to use the garbage a kid around 9-12 decided to lean over the railing separating the weights area and spit into the small garbage right alongside my arm. I asked him if he was serious and he smirked and tried to deny he did, even as his spit glistened on the plastic. I did mention it to staff who seemed unconcerned. The place is great when kids are in school but is absolutely handed over to the kids outside of school hours (this was a Sunday night).
Most people at the rec are friendly and just trying to get in a workout, but if you want a more mature experience Snap is much more peaceful.
