My boyfriend and I had the opportunity to stay at your hotel for two days, and we found the experience highly satisfactory. Upon our arrival, Janis was the primary staff member assisting with check-in, and another employee promptly joined to provide support after arriving late. The check-in process was efficient, and we encountered no significant delays.

We were impressed by the quality and cleanliness of the king-size room. The mattress provided exceptional comfort, and we enjoyed watching football on the flat-screen television. The shower design was particularly favorable, given the absence of a shower curtain, and the restroom offered ample space for our use. Additionally, the couch featured a built-in charging station, and the central piece of furniture was sufficiently large, allowing us to stretch out comfortably. We also appreciated the proximity of the ice machine to our room.

However, we noticed that the valet service was slow, with a parking fee of $25 per night. I recommend the hotel consider offering self-parking options to enhance guest convenience, especially since we had to park my car twice due to the busy valet service.

The on-site restaurant provided a pleasant dining experience, and the food was notably enjoyable. I ordered the flatbread pizza while my boyfriend selected a hamburger with fries. The menu would benefit from featuring additional options to cater to a broader range of preferences.

In summary, we left the hotel with positive impressions and are likely to return in the future. Thank you for hosting us.

My first time staying here was for the Big Queer Events New Years Eve party Dec. 2024.

We had an amazing experience with every aspect of our stay. The staff were so helpful and welcoming the entire time. We could not believe how clean and well maintained the hotel is!

Even more impressive was the event they help put on with BQE. The staff was very welcoming, and went above and beyond in creating a safe and welcoming space for queer artists and fans.

I booked an event space and a room for the night so my review is in 2 parts:
Working with the staff on my event was wonderful. They listened to everything I wanted, and needed, and were so accommodating. They went above and beyond to make sure my LGBTQIA2S+ event had everything it I had requested, and more. They were communicative, thoughtful and professional. We had 150+ people in attendance and I have gotten such great feedback about the event space and the staff.
I also booked a room to stay in after the event. The room was very clean and comfortable! The front desk staff was helpful and knowledgeable, and so nice. The extra security needed to access living spaces by using your keycard was an extra level of safety I appreciated. Everyone I spoke to was kind, from the valet workers to the maintenance crew. We also loved being so close to the Boardwalk and were excited to be able to walk over and play at the arcade in the morning, before heading home.
I will definitely be suggesting this hotel to people I know who are coming to visit.

Should have read the reviews before I made the un-cancellable reservation... The "hard" 4pm check-in rule was the first surprise of my stay at this property. Most Marriott's have a 3pm check in policy, but it is Santa Cruz so it fits that things might be "different", I thought. My next surprise was the Valet only parking at $25/night. Charging for parking is becoming much more common with this chain, and its competitors, particularly in resort or vacation spots, but there was no advanced notice about the charge. It also appeared management allows non-guest parking, for a fee. Good luck trying to find anything on the street within reasonable walking distance. The third and final strike was the extended wait to get into our room. Santa Cruz isn't Las Vegas, and this property isn't Cesare's Palace so waiting 40 mins shouldn't have been part of the process. Yes, we were also late to our scheduled dinner with friends. The room was clean. For reference, we stayed at the Fairfield Inn on 41st ave in Capitola the evening prior to our stay at this property, and found that experience to be completely in line with expectations. Not quite sure who's running the show there at the Courtyard in Santa Cruz, but I won't be spending my money at your property again.

Loved our experience at the Courtyard by Marriott! I stayed here with my children on New Years Eve and felt so safe and welcomed by every service member I encountered, valet, front desk, food service member, I will be back! I'm telling everyone how much I recommend staying here with their families if they come to Santa Cruz!

Really want to like this hotel, the location is great, room is clean, front desk and valet are very friendly.
However, the soundproof of this hotel is terrible. You can hear everything in your room, people turn on water, closing their doors, very loud. Shower water is not warm enough, despite I tuned the temperature to the max. Lastly, l called hotel 3 times before I checked in but no one ever answered.

We had a horrible experience at this property. The hotel & our room were clean & comfortable. However the staff ranged from just dismissive to confrontational. When we arrived the valet was pleasant but pointed to a luggage cart & elevator location before handing us a ticket & walking away. At check-in 1 team member was training & other than asking if we were checking in, they only spoke to each other. We had to ask if breakfast was included with the room (yes), what time breakfast was (7-10:30) & confirm they had noted we were with the conference the hotel was hosting & if we were given the K room we booked. Afterwards we rolled the luggage cart up to our room. The next morning we walked up to the bar at 10:07 am & asked the man behind the counter where breakfast was. He told us it was held at the bar & ended at 10am before walking away. I caught him & stated I was with the conference & thought breakfast at the bar was odd since the conference had lots of people. He pointed in a direction & walked away. We assumed we had misheard the front desk say breakfast was till 10:30am & left. The next morning my wife went to the bar at 9:30am & was told by the same man, with a woman at his side, that breakfast ended at 9am. She was upset & pointed out that the same man (as well as the front desk) had now told her 3 different times. She walked over to breakfast & saw there was only self-serve coffee & maybe a dozen small pastries. The woman walked over, identified her self as the F&B director, demanded to see my wife's conference badge & the lectured her on how breakfast was served. My wife was upset & returned to the room & at this point, we avoided all hotel staff. We also made a point to make zero purchases, including food, beverage or alcohol, at this hotel & instead spent our money at a competitor. At checkout we called down for a luggage cart & were told we could come get one. When we walked up to the front desk the staff member was on the phone & just gestured towards the key drop box before looking back down at her computer. I have never experiences such poor across the board service at any hotel & especially not at Marriott. I was especially upset that the F&B director made the choice that the best hospitality service she could provide would be to follow, confront & lecture a guest. We were with a large conference & some colleagues said their rooms were dirty.

We stayed here for the night during a boardwalk trip its walking distance to the boardwalk which was great. Valet parking was $25 for the night so we were able to park at the hotel and walk over. The room was very clean no weird smells or anything. They had a travel crib for our baby and were polite when we needed extra towels. Water pressure was good in the shower and again shower was clean. They had a little snack area to purchase foods and drinks and I believe it was open 24hrs. Staff was polite checking in and out. We’ll be staying here anytime we come to the beach. We weren’t able to try the bistro restaurant this time but we will be trying it next time! This hotel was much cleaner, updated and friendly than the other hotels we have been to in the area which are usually run down and in desperate need of renovation.
