We stayed here pre-cruise for Royal Caribbean.

No Airport Shuttle...
We flew into Long Beach Airport and then expected to take a taxi since the hotel does not provide shuttle from the airport. We didn't see taxis, so we ordered an Uber and it cost about $50 and 30 minutes.
The rooms...
While it's an older building, it's been kept up. Beds were great, bathroom was decent. Really nothing to complain about. We even got to see our cruise ship come in from our bedroom window.

Breakfast Buffet...
This was a fantastic breakfast buffet for a hotel. Lots of options including some not so regular items like Black Beans and also Fried Rice. The chef even offered to make eggs to order, if preferred.

Shuttle to Cruise...
Make sure to let the front desk know ahead of time to book this. There is an extra fee but worth not beating up my luggage wheels walking the mile to the port.

Overall I would stay here again and recommend this.

I'd avoid this place if there are better options. The lobby looks nice but otherwise it's really rundown. Our room had stains on the walls, drywall patches that weren't painted in the bathroom, worn out furniture, air conditioner wouldn't turn on one day, air conditioner wouldn't turn off one night, didn't get any room service even though we asked for it, asked for fresh towels 3 times over 3 days before we finally actually got some. The best thing they have going for them is the super nice maintenance guy that kept troubleshooting our A/C.

I am writing this review because certain things regarding our stay need to be brought to the attention of IHG management. We were fortunate enough to be able to sit down with Josh Teregis regarding our stay and he was very apologetic, but I did let him know that we would be writing a formal review. This is our first stay at a Crowne Plaza. To be honest, we are a competitor hotel family and have been since our work days starting in the early 70s. There are none of our brand hotels in the area of San Pedro Port and therefore it was recommended that we use Crown Plaza.

The hotel itself is fine but needs some help, the staff is outrageously appreciative of our stay and also top notch in the duties they perform. However, the room itself was a disaster, both of them. I will be attaching photos. When we came to the first room, a suite, we found an initial problem. After discussions with the on-site supervisor and her inspection of the room ( Dominique) we found out that all of the TVs in the suites were installed incorrectly and that you had to sit on the toilet in order to watch the TV. We were moved to a larger suite where the TVs were accessible. That was great, but upon being in the room for one hour, we found the total inadequacies of the room. As you can see from the photos, legs, broken on tables and credenza, torn couch, cushions, missing couch, cushions, and a variety of other items that you’ll clearly see in the photos. I will make note that upon arrival we were told that there would be a one hundred doll. hold on our card for any damage that was brought onto the room by our stay. It is obvious that the room does not get inspected properly and that if we had not brought these issues up immediately, there is a chance that we would have been charged for these damages. You cannot go ahead and force us to succumb to a one hundred hold on our card and then present us with a room that is in such disrepair. We write this review because it is imperative that additional customers do not see and go through what we did.

Again the staff fantastic, the discussion with Josh regarding our stay, fantastic. He was very empathetic and encouraged us to send the reviewing so that action can be taken.

I did preface my conversation with Josh by saying it was probably the last time we would ever stay in a crown Plaza. He asked that after our discussion, we may reconsider that and we will reconsider that but it’ll be upon receiving information back from Crowne Plaza/IHG regarding our review.

Thank you very much for your attention in this review and we look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely, Thomas and Judith Rohr Sr

Words cannot express how much I enjoyed my stay. I arrived stressed and left totally relaxed. My request for an early check-in on a high floor with harbor views was accomodated with great care by Lynn. I enjoyed views of the water, cruise ships embarking, sailboats, cargo ships and sunrises/sunsets from the busiest port in America. The restaurant manager graciously found blueberries for my oatmeal even though they were not on the menu. Miguel in Blu Lounge was super sweet and kind.

This was our second stay at this hotel, albeit that visit was 16 years ago. We booked this hotel because we were travelling on a Los Angeles to Vancouver coastal cruise. Our flight connections meant we had to come in two days before our cruise but we thought that would be OK because we had stayed here before and enjoyed the San Pedro area. Check-in was fast and our reservation was in order. We booked the for-charge shuttle service to the Port of Los Angeles for the Saturday morning of our departure. There are no bell services so I located the one (and possibly only) luggage cart to take our bags to our room. We had a standard king room with a north-facing view. It was dimly lit. The decor is definitely dated. The room is equipped with a long console holding the TV, Keurig coffee maker and a mini-fridge; unfortunately, the fridge froze everything put in it, and we could not find a thermostat. To the right of the console is a desk with a lamp and several outlets. There is a small round table, a computer chair and a sitting chair. The bed was large and comfortable, however, the very soft pillows were uncomfortable. There are bedside tables with lamps on each side of the bed. Environmental controls were tricky and we ended just shutting off the air flow. The bathroom is very small. The vanity seems to have been updated but the tub/shower unit was in poor condition. It is in bad need of regrouting or outright replacement. The tub stopper did not work. There is a small front closet with iron and iron board (which kept falling off the wall) and hangers. There is no safe. There are bottles with soap, lotion, shower gel and conditioner, but surprisingly, no shampoo. Housekeeping service can be waived for 500 IHG points; we took advantage of this for our short stay. The restaurant has restricted hours, open only for breakfast and super, including the same evening hours for the bar. The breakfast buffet was fine as were the two evening meals we had there. One annoying issue was the self-service tuck shop located off the main lobby. It requires key card access, but the checkout process was self-serve; we hate self-service POS systems and avoid them at all costs. After several tries, we finally got it to work. The selection of food, beverages and non-food items are very good. There is also a fitness room and outdoor pool but we did not use them. Staff were very friendly, accommodating and aimed to please. We did bring our observations to the attention of hotel staff. Until this property updates its decor and provides better food services throughout the day, we would not stay here again.

This Crowne Plaza is one of those properties that exists simply because it is going to be booked by people who need the location, not necessarily because they want to stay there; “the only game in town”, much like an airport hotel services people who have had their flight canceled or missed a connection. IHG clearly has not invested a lot, if any, money in this hotel.||We arrived and waited in line behind 2 groups of airline crews, which is odd since the hotel is a little over 30 minutes from the airport. We got to our room, dropped our things off and went to meet our friends in the restaurant.||Our server came over to take our drink order and seemed like she couldn’t care less about serving us. We all noted her attitude. Dinner was fine and only one of us ordered a second drink.||Back in the room we noticed how old everything looked; the furniture, the drapery, the artwork. This hotel existed just to service guests getting on/off a ship at the port and airline personnel. Went to bed and could hear the guests in the next room arguing, to the point that I was going to call down to the front desk, but I finally fell asleep.||Got up the next morning and went to get in the shower when I noticed we had no bath towels. Called down to the front desk and someone came up shortly with a full set. The bathroom was set up poorly, most noticeably the toilet paper holder in a place that was completely unreachable if you were using the toilet. While we didn’t need it, the makeup mirror light was dim, certainly not something a woman would be able to use to apply her makeup.||Went down for breakfast and had an AWESOME waitress; welcoming, friendly and efficient. She got our coffee and tea and took our order (although she didn’t write it down). Orders came and 3 of 3 omelets were incorrectly made, but since she was so friendly we overlooked it.||After breakfast we collected our things and took the hotel’s shuttle to the port. That is a great amenity and, in addition to our breakfast waitress, is why this is not a 1-star review.||Sorry to say that this hotel is a necessary “evil” if you are using the LA port. Keep your expectations low and you won’t be disappointed. IHG certainly doesn’t care about the place and neither should you.

This is a good location for those about to go on a cruise. However, do not expect to receive shuttle service to the cruise port if you are in a wheelchair. Apparently the service they once provided with a lift-equipped bus is no longer offered. If you are able bodied, you will be fine (so long as you pay the $5.50 per person). Overall accessibility at the hotel is fine with a few minor problems, like bathroom amenities being out of reach, bed too high, etc.

This is an excellent location with a beautiful view of the marina. The staff at the desk is great. Miguel upgraded me to a nice corner junior suite and Manuel took great care of me in the bar. The rooms are a little older but the bed was comfy and the shower was amazing. Had a small problem with the AC but the staff took care of mez
