Wonderful venue and people to work with! My husband and I had our wedding reception here in March 2023 and we loved everything about our experience. Tim and Sarah were so accessible, friendly, and helpful!

We were charmed by the history of the Depot and it provided a great location for our wedding party photos (both indoors and outdoors).

The event space itself brings in beautiful natural light in the daytime. It’s lovely on its own but also a blank canvas for any style of decor. In the evening, it's magical to look out and see the Depot lit up and a view of the State Capitol building from the east windows.

We felt very cared for by the Des Moines Heritage Center team. Their communication was quick, clear, and honestly took some stress off of the wedding planning process. We had everything we needed, from coat racks and an awesome A/V system to plentiful outlets, a bridal suite, and table linens (so many color choices!). We're also thankful they let us work with our preferred vendors.

This historical venue was perfect for our wedding. We fell in love with the brick train depot as the backdrop for our ceremony, but also enjoyed the updated reception space that was clean/modern to be transformed into any style you want. We leaned into the 1920s/art deco vibe the historic train depot gives and it was absolutely gorgeous. Sarah and Tim were also very easy to work with and were quick to respond to emails. You can’t ask for a better location too. Right in the East Village there really is so much for guests to do before and after the wedding! Plus, it’s super close to the AC Marriott which is where we stayed for the weekend. It has a great King Suite.

The Des Moines Heritage Center was great to work for our wedding reception venue. They graciously answered all of our questions. We got married the ONE weekend it was freezing and snowy and they were still great and helpful as we wrapped up our night earlier than expected. We enjoyed working with the team and the restored train depot is stunning.

This was the very first venue we looked at when planning our wedding, and we looked at 3-4 more after that in the Des Moines area. After looking at each venue after DMHC we couldn’t help but realize how perfect the Heritage Center is, so we booked it and was the easiest decision of our wedding.
