My wife and I took the 2 hour Eco Tour with our guide Nancy. She was outstanding and provided a great overview of the history, fun facts, geology, and wildlife of the island. We saw herds of Bison, the unique Catalina Island fox, deer, birds, and other wildlife while on our extensive tour. The big views from the mountain peaks and canyons are spectacular. If all you do is stay in Avalon and hangout at the restaurants and beach you are missing out on the unique history and majestic scenery the island offers. We went on the Eco Tour, guided Casino Tour, and visited the Wrigley Gardens and recommend seeing all three during your visit. We stayed 3 nights and easily saw them all while enjoying most of Avalon as well.

Our two hour tour was magnificent! Shane was our driver and did an excellent job of narrating (and safely driving) during our excursion. He shared information about how Catalina was settled as well as current day events. He identified the history and inside stories behind many buildings and artifacts. He did a great job of identifying local and invasive plants along the way and also focused on the animals native and non-native to the island. He gave us a unique perspective of living there during his life and how he has been drawn back to the island. It was amazing that our trail took us right alongside a bison where we safely got excellent photos. We also saw another bison at the lake on our return. The mid -point of our trip was a stop at the one of a kind local airport where we’re were able to buy snacks (Try the killer cookies)and watch smaller aircraft taking off and landing. Shane never rushed us and was always willing to take photos. This was an incredible adventure and it was due to the route along the mountain tops and Shane’s education. I highly recommend this tour.

This tour was worth every penny. I highly recommend splurging and doing a three hour tour. You Just can’t see enough in two hours. We saw bison, foxes, eagles, and horses at Wrigley’s secluded house. We also saw tons of unique plants only found on the island. The guide also took us to some breathtaking views on the other side of the island. our guide Lindsey was a hoot and knew more about the island and its ecosystem than I could’ve imagined.

I highly recommend this tour and I would definitely go back.

This tour was AMAZING!! We saw a part of the island that we would not have seen if we would have elected to take the golf cart tour. Golf carts are not allowed in the interior parts of the island. We saw BISON up close, old stage coach stops, the Wrigley family properties, local history. We stopped at the airport in the sky(so cool!)-great warm up spot with a huge fireplace, homemade cookies, and hot chocolate!!!! Our guide Shaun is local and very knowledgeable about local fun things to do as well as history of the island. Highly recommend, especially if you only have one day on the island!
