El Terado Terrace Mini Suites - Avalon, California

We were very happy staying at El Terado Terrace Mini Suites & Townhomes. The kitchen was small, but fairly well-equipped. The beds were clean and comfortable, we had an ocean view. The shower and bathroom was small but efficient. We were allowed to check in early and check out late, a big plus. The location is close to the Harbour, but also a good starting point for hiking inland. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the ferry terminal. The staff was reasonably friendly. Unfortunately, El Terado doesn't allow storage of luggage after check out; this forces travellers to use lockers located at the ferry terminal. Also, (a fairly minor point) there is usually nobody at the front desk during office hours, rather one needs to call a phone number and then someone will answer the call and arrive at the office if necessary. Overall, a great experience.

This place was clean and in a good location, which were all we wanted for our vacation at Catalina. It's no 5-star hotel which we didn't expect in the first place, because we didn't pay for such quality, but it was enough to make us happy. The AC worked greatly and walking into the room after a hot day felt like heaven. The manager/owner, whoever we were in contact with, was very nice and responsive. Great customer service.

Great spot to grab a room while visiting Catalina Island! The management was fast and amazingly helpful with all of our accommodation needs during our stay and went above and beyond in terms of service. Can't recommend this place enough for anyone looking for a comfortable and affordable place to stay during their trip to Catalina. Will definitely be back soon!

We arrived & attempted to check in at El Terrado Terrace. I was surprised of Not seeing staff available for questions. Our shuttle driver, went directly to the check in window, reached in and retrieved our room keys, I was very surprised. This is the first incident in my 40yrs of Hotel check-in to literally assist ourselves to our room without speaking to staff? |Throughout our 2-night stay, there wasn’t any staff available for services. I called the number posted on the website and never received a call back? |A sign is posted on the office window, stating if we need anything we need to ask between office hours. We went by the office on numerous occasions during office hours and Never witness staff available. This was disappointing as we needed room service and supplies. |We checked out and checked-in at Canyon Catalina Inn. Wow! Did we make a great choice. Staff was present as we checked-in early. We were able to store our luggage till our room was ready. We had to check out from El Terrado Terrace at 10am which I find it to be absurd!! Canyon Catalina Inn has an on-site restaurant which we enjoyed an Awesome & De’Lish breakfast. Our room was ready by 11am perfect timing, we retrieved our luggage and went to our room. Staff is very courteous, efficient, & helpful. I will definitely be staying at Canyon Catalina Inn, upon my return to Avalon.|I suggest to others Read the reviews before you reserve.

My family and I spent our 4th of July holiday here and while I am proudly an elite member for a couple of large hotel chains, I can honestly say that I am thrilled with the experience that I shared with my family while on Catalina, and while I have many hotel stays to compare to this visit was like no other. El Terado was conveniently located for our wandering about the town, our rooms were equipped with kitchens and comforts beyond our needs, there was a grilling spot which was a nice touch and the view from our room was amazing. It absolutely is not your fancy chain hotel or your boutique spot either, but it was every bit quaint and comfortable. The staff was attentive and kind, they took care of us, and most importantly were Welcoming and treated us like family. I am excited to plan my next visit and have already recommended friends

We had a lovely stay. Rooms had full kitchen and were walking distance to Vons. TV was nice too.

The man running the hotel helped us with scuba gear and directions. Will definitely stay here again.

This was a really good choice. Well equipped suites with lots of Everything was very clean. They have a lovely terrace with bbq's. Great views because it is at the top of the hill but we are seniors and managed to drag our luggage up there. Would definitely recommend.

Let me start off with the friendliness of the staff. Ivan (owner) was very professional and friendly. Russ (maintenance/hospitality) was super helpful, friendly and informative. Location was pretty good. Based on those two, I'd give it another shot of they worked on the following.

The room had an odor that we ended up buying air freshener. During checkout time there was no one to checkout with and I did not receive a receipt for my payment. These are very fixable and can easily sway me to a five Star rating in the future.
