Jacqueline V. Smith was hired as a party planner in October for my graduation party in December 2024. After our initial meeting, I left with high hopes for a well-organized and enjoyable event. She came across as nice and professional and took notes of all the requests. However, my party was nothing like we had discussed.
First, despite her showing up on time to decorate the hall. She did not have adequate help, which led to my family needing to help decorate.
Second, we did not get all the decorations and setup we had previously agreed upon and paid for. For example, she had promised a personalized sign, which never came. In addition, there were not enough tablecloths and no utensils or plates, which led to unnecessary stress. My family had to scramble to find these items at the last second. My sister had to get her serving utensils, which Jacqueline took at the end of the party and did not return to her.
Third, the food was late, and the servers we had paid for never showed up. Therefore, my family also had to serve the guests in their all-white attire as they tried to salvage the event. The food's lateness pushed back the party's scheduling time.
At the end of the party, we voiced our concerns to her, and she told us she would get back to us. Two weeks after the party, we spoke with her via phone, and she agreed to refund us a portion of the money for all the deficiencies at the party. However, we have not received ANY portion of the money and have been unable to contact her despite multiple attempts via text, Facebook, and regular phone calls.
I sincerely hope that by sharing my experience, others can avoid the same frustrations. I would NOT recommend Jacqueline to anyone.

Elegant Lounge by JV's was immaculate, set up perfectly upon arrival, and the staff were incredibly helpful with all our needs. I'm definitely booking JV's Elegance for all my future parties, along with their party bus service. My experience? A solid 20,000 out of 10!

It is with great disappointment that I write this letter to you. It has been three months since my dad's surprise birthday/retirement party, and I am still waiting for a call back to rectify the issues we encountered. I find it incredibly inappropriate and unprofessional that you have been avoiding me.

I was promised a refund for our inconvenience during my dad's party, but it seems like it was just an empty promise. As a black business owner, it is disheartening to see how you handle problems like this. It is situations like these that make people hesitant to support black businesses.

When I booked the place, I had never seen it before. I was entrusting the deceiving photos posted on your website. You were very pleasant and friendly on the phone, which led me to move forward with booking the place. However, the reality on the ground was a far cry from what was advertised on your website.

On the night of my dad's party, the maintenance person quit, and the chair pillows were filthy. There was an event the night before in which the place was not so clean. It was an awful experience that left a sour taste in our mouths. This was supposed to be a memorable night for my dad, but it turned out to be unforgettable for all the wrong reasons.

I have been very patient and professional about this matter, but it seems like you don't care about your customers' satisfaction. I pray that no family experiences what we went through. May God deal with you accordingly.

I called to view the place prior to reserving. The woman who i spoke with was extremely nice. Had her assistant meet us. He was also extremely nice. However, the place had a Terrible smell. It could have used a cleaning. The room was smaller than expected, they advised it holds 100 ppl. if it does, it is a tight squeeze.

I booked Jv for my baby shower. Overall it’s a nice place inside, but how they run there business and the lack of communication is ridiculous. The assistant Portia is very rude and unprofessional they tell you one thing when you book just to get you to book. When the day of your event arrives it’s another story. I was promised a fridge to put my expensive cake in and never got it. It began to melt. I had to play phone tag just to get into contact with someone who worked there. I still haven’t even gotten my deposit back yet. They said they have 30 days to issue the deposit back to you, but every time I call there office it goes straight to voicemail. Overall the event hall is nice, but it’s not worth all the hassle dealing with unprofessional people. I will never book again!!!

I had my event here in May. It was good event very well decorated. However, I must say the of this business is very unethical and unprofessional. Days leading to the event, she was unreachable. Her assistant was not relaying her calls nor message back to her. During the event, she left & never came back. Texted me to throw out the trash and lock the door, which was done.

Included in the payment was a damage fee for if there is any damage. She has never called or texted me back after contacting her for months (The event was in May). We actually cleaned the venue prior to leaving.

This actually isn’t the first time she’s done this. A few people who have booked her has said she doesn’t reply after the event so you have no way of getting your deposit. Some said she blocked them from contacting her.

Overall, the event was great however, just prepare to have your deposit/damage fee taken, not hear from her again and the probability of coming 30 mins to finish helping set up for your event.

I had my 10th-anniversary party at Elegant Lounge and the entire service from the planning to the actual event was 5-star. Jacqueline the owner was very patient and polite and very attentive to all my crazy needs lol. I would recommend this event hall to all my friends and family. Great price for the space and elegance provided. ✨✨✨

Do not book any big events with Jacqueline. Unfortunately, I booked my wedding with her and she gave me a lot of promises that were not delivered. When we meet with her she stated she was a one stop shop. She would take care of everything which included invitations, cater, photographer, decorator, florist, servers, alcohol with the bartender, cake, beverages and utensil's everything that was needed.She promised me that she and her husband would be at my wedding from start of the wedding to finish. She showed her face for the first hour and disappeared. Her husband never attended. She promised us that our guest would have hors d’oeuvres while we were out taking photos, my guest didn’t get anything, she didn’t have water or anything for them. They had to go to the store to get water. We paid for an open bar she asked us for the drinks we would like at the bar I sent her a list. We arrived to find out that she had nothing from our list. Our open bar consisted of two bottles of Tito’s. Our food arrived late and my guest were given a hard time by the two servers when they asked for more. The air conditioning was on HELL. She did not supply us any champagne for our first toast nor did she give us the cake cutter or plates for the cake. The photographer she hired for our wedding left after the ceremony. He wanted to charge us and additional $500 to stay for the reception. He never spoke about any additional fees. He had his assistant take our photos and he was not experienced. He never took a photo of my entire party. When I asked him to take one of the entire party he said he would take it when we return to the venue. When we returned to the venue he left since we did not want to pay additional fees. Jackie was no where around to rectify the issue. I called her and she did not answer. She left her teenage son in the office and when we asked him where we can find her he did not know.
She never mentioned that I would have to pay additional for anything. To find out at my wedding that the photographer would not stay for the reception was devastating. I do not have pictures of my first dance, father daughter dance, mom and son dance or my cake cutting. Photos that I could never look back to relive the day. To add, my mom passed away two years ago before my wedding and Jackie promised to have a memorial displaying her photo with two candles that my aunt who was my moms oldest sister would light in her memory. That did not take place. I had family members and friends that flew in from far to attend a wedding that was far from perfect. This day was a brides worst day. If you do not want your wedding destroyed do not go to JV Elegant Lounge.
