My mom and I stayed overnight at Fairfield Inn Santa Cruz. The check-in process was smooth as I presented my ID and reservation at the front desk. Our room size was slightly smaller than expected, and maybe we'll opt for a larger room on our next stay. Although the location may seem far away from Downtown Santa Cruz and the UCSC campus, it is conveniently located in a peaceful location by highway 1 and is a 5 minute drive to Natural Bridges Beach.

On the bright side, the window, sliding door and balcony overlooking the Pacific Ocean was an advantage. The bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean and modern and the TV is updated and capable of streaming (using your own subscriptions). I am also fond of the air conditioner/heater/fan trio, microwave and mini fridge inside our room. There is also plenty of complimentary parking spaces available on their lot.

On the next day, we ate breakfast at the lobby. Complimentary breakfast is served from 7am-10am on weekends and 6:30am-9:30am on weekdays. We opted for their mini waffles, with some scrambled eggs and turkey patties. The scrambled eggs were fluffy, while the turkey patties were quite juicy. The waffles were crunchy, warm yet soft at the same time. It was well-paired with sliced strawberries and breakfast syrup.

Overall, I am impressed with my stay at Fairfield Inn and will likely return here on my next stay in Santa Cruz.

Me and my friend were road tripping through California, we made a pit stop in santa cruz. We were quite nervous about popping in somewhere without a booking as we scheduled a majority of our trip. We passed Fairfield Inn and I made a quick call and was greeted by a wonderful Lady called Michelle. On arrival she couldn't have done enough to make us feel welcome and find the right room. She really made our stay extra special ! Just want to wish her a happy new year !! She is a memorable piece to our trip down the Cali coast XX

Without disclosure, they overcharge you 50$ in case of room damage. So when you check in, they inform you of the room rate, you run your card, then get home and see its more than it was supposed to be and have to call the hotel to get them to fix the mistake and only then are informed of the extra charge, to be refunded in about 7 days following your stay.
This issue took a 5 star down to a 2 start for me because of the waste of effort and stress having to deal with it, it they just informed people up front it would have been fine instead of looking like a billing error you have to deal with.
The hotel itself was nice, hot tub worked great, breakfast was good, they even have oatmilk.

What a wonderful property. Close to the water, very clean, friendly staff. What else can you ask for?

Note that the parking lot got pretty full on Saturday night. Maybe they need an overflow plan.

It is fairfield and average. Rooms are modern but have a smell (mild to me) i am not sure about your nose. The service is almost nil, no free water bottles, no housekeeping if u are staying short. Only towel refill on day 2.

I asked for a birthday wish at least, that was politely turned down. So basically a pretty mid experience.

If u find it cheap, take it, location is good and close to stores, food etc.

The free breakfast is fair too.

Stayed here with our toddler. Everything was great! There’s a large parking lot with free parking, our room was on the 3rd floor and was quiet. We did a lot of laundry while there and the laundry was coin operated. $2.50 to wash and $2.50 to dry, tide laundry soap and dryer sheets are available in a vending machine for $1.25 each.
The pool is open from 10 am - 10 pm, breakfast is from 6:30 - 9:30 daily and was delicious. Everyone at the front desk was nice and acknowledged us when we were coming and going. We would stay here again - it’s about 2.5 miles from the boardwalk!

Great staff, rooms clean and well furnished. This was during the great internet security debacle and staff were lovely despite limited access to their systems. Breakfast was vast, quite the buffet ! On the Westside, near the beach and not in town- perfect. I will return!!

Pleasantly happy to give a five-star review. My stay was fantastic. The room was comfortable, and there was even a view from the fourth floor. Way off in the distance I could see the ocean.||I was able to work remotely including doing a 1 hour video webinar from the lobby. The workout room is small but well equipped. The pool water temperature is perfect given the ambient air temperature, around 55°. And the hot tub, although the Jets were not functional, was also clean and warm. Staff were friendly. Plenty of free parking.||The only issue, and it really wasn't much of an issue for me, the high school adjacent to the hotel produces a line of cars about 1 mi long during pickup in the afternoon. The drivers completely block the road requiring you to drive on the opposite side of the road for as long as a mile to get to the hotel. If you did not know this was a line of parents waiting to pick up kids, you might be inclined to wait in line thinking there was a traffic disaster up ahead. I wish Santa Cruz police would require an alternate plan for parents picking up kids.||This hotel is not centrally located, and there really isn't anything within walking distance. If you don't have a car you will definitely be taking Uber, even if you want to go to 7-Eleven. If you're in Santa Cruz on business, or you've come here to go hiking, this is a great location because you're going to have to drive anyway.
