I love this attraction! I visited around a decade ago and had this in mind as a stop that I needed to include during this visit because I enjoyed it so much the first time. Unfortunately, it was closed the first day we stopped by due to it being off-season. Thankfully, our trip was extended, and we were able to include it after all. This time, I had my 2.5 year old and my 4 year old with me. They were jazzed to go on the elevator and weren't scared one bit. My 2.5 year old was very upset when I wouldn't let him go on the ride again. The tickets are reasonable priced, some of the staff are really friendly, and there are great views from the top. Make sure to take some time to take in the view of the city. We'll definitely be stopping by the next time we're in the area.

Great piece of history in Dubuque gives you an opportunity to ride on an old inclined railway and get some great views of the city and the Mississippi.

This was FUN! Took a round trip starting from the bottom where we found street parking. Such a unique experience with an amazing view of the city and river. Friendly staff offering resources and information at the top. Went at sunset and it was beautiful to see the sun hit all of the brick buildings. Well worth the $4 a person.

A very cute historical funicular in Dubuque!! Absolutely worth the ride, and it's really cool how this has been in operation since the 1890s. Great view of the city and a fun ride to and from the top!

We visited this funicular as a family and thought it was so cool and interesting! We read the pamphlet about the history before riding down, which greatly enhanced our appreciation of the significance of this elevator. Beautiful old houses at the top where there was street parking. Neither of the employees were very friendly, but we didn’t let that dampen our experience. At the bottom is Cable Bar Square which has some shopping, and a public restroom building. None of the shops were particularly kid friendly. A short walk away is the clock tower and beautiful courthouse. We thought it was a worthwhile experience and worth the money!

We stopped January 12th, not realizing they were closed for the winter. We will be back in the spring to visit again! Dubuque was established near the corner of 3 states. You can see them from the top. Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois.

This is a brief and fun activity to do while in Dubuque. Our family had a great time doing this.

It is a funicular railway connecting 4th Street & Fenelon Place. It takes just a few minutes to ride to the top. Once at the top, the views are beautiful. This is a neat little activity, and fun to be able to say you did it.

Rates are very reasonable:
Adults are $2.00 one way and $4.00 round trip Children (5-12) $1 one way and $2 round trip. Children under five ride for free.
