Haines Fly Guides (HFG) gave us an outstanding fishing experience targeting Pink Salmon. Our guide, Charlie, was excellent—he shared his fly fishing expertise, remained patient throughout the day, and worked tirelessly to keep us on the fish.

HFG provided top-of-the-line gear, including Simms waders and Orvis rods and reels, all at no additional cost. Lunch from a local bakery was also included.

Overall, it was a well-organized and enjoyable trip that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great fishing adventure.

Fly fishing in Haines was the highlight of our Alaska cruise. Yes, we went whale watching in Juneau and saw about a dozen whales, but this was EVEN BETTER! Caden picked us up at the pier (looking like he stepped out of “A River Runs Through It”) and then stopped to pick up a couple more people from the ferry. We drove out to near the Chilkoot State Park, met up with Charlie and a couple more people there to fish, got kitted out, and got right down in the water. My husband has been fly fishing before, but I was a total newbie! Caden go me to a good spot, taught me to cast, showed me where to cast, and—BOOM—I caught a big beautiful fish. He went and pointed things out to my husband, and soon he was catching like crazy. I have a sketchy foot, and took a wrong step and fell down in the river. But the guys helped me out, and since it was time for lunch anyway, I warmed up in the truck while eating the tasty lunch proved for full-day tours. After that, they moved us to a different section of the river where we kept catching. Caden took a couple passengers back to their ferry, so Charlie stayed to instruct us. He changed out flies, pointed where to cast, and gave us pointers. Being in the water in that stunning location and catching fish was the quintessential Alaska experience we were hoping for! Caden and Charlie made it AMAZING for us! P.S. Sorry I called you Caleb when saying goodbye Caden. I think the cold was getting to me.?

Awesome day on the water with Charles. A great attentive and knowledgeable guide had me on fish from my first cast to almost the last. Lots of great fish. Dollys all day. Fly guides handled my ferry to and from Haines to Skagway and everything went perfect. I would do this trip again for sure.

A once in a lifetime experience for me Sept 13, 2022. Tanner was my guide and he went above and beyond to give me the best experience possible. I am 67 years old with some physical limitations and he got me through the entire fishing day, at the same time being surrounded by bears, no lie not an exaggeration! Tanner had to keep watch and tell me when we had to move away from bears following us down the river!
He helped every step of the way. A very nice and conscientious young man. I would highly recommend Fly Guides to anyone wanting to experience fishing in the incredible surroundings. All of their attire and equipment top notch! On a personal note, I wish Tanner all the best in his future endeavors. We had a blast. I’m a female and caught several. We got a keeper out of my son and hubbie caught the most. Must do when visiting Haines. Guides really helped me around the waters, we caught over a dozen fish! And a big guy! Oh, and an eagle flew down and took one of my son’s fish. Kids got a great story for life!

My husband and I used Fly Guides during our short stay in Haines and we had an amazing time! Tanner was our guide and he did a great job putting us on fish. While my husband has experience fishing I had none at all and was still able to catch some fish! Would definitely recommend using this company!

We had a great day of fishing. Because of the record heat the water was murky but our guide notified us and gave use the option of canceling the trip which we declined . Everyone in our group caught fish. The equipment was top notch, our guide was knowledgeable and worked hard to make sure we had a great time
