I purchased a 6-month renewable ex-US policy. While I thankfully have no experience with how claims processing worked, upon renewal, I was told I needed to submit the renewal and CC payments by mail or fax. This company provides international health insurance, and to expect someone to process a renewal via mail/fax while they are traveling abroad is a serious red flag. I found a cheaper policy with a competitor that is also fully in-step with technology and the digital age.
