Cannot recommend this place high enough. Location, cleanliness, staff, price...amazing. The beach is literally the backyard and great restaurants are within walking distance. We decided this will be our go to for future Florida visits.

at the last minute my husband and I had to come to Indian Rocks Beach from Sarasota. my niece had flown in and wanted me to see her baby girl just born.| I planned a several hour visit then we were going to drive back to Sarasota before it got dark at 5:30. The kids had no room for us to stay overnight.| Little did we know that morning there would be a deadly fog alert throughout the gulf coast!!!| Despite major anxiety I started looking|at nearby hotels. Time was running out on me. we had to start the drive up on I75|in the fog.| By a miracle, I contacted Tina and told her my predicament.| She got us a room and accommodated us to get there after hours.| She was an angel watching over us.|After the visit and seeing my baby girl, the fog was still bad.|but we only had to drive a quarter mile and we arrived at the Inn.| The one bedroom suite was totally amazing!!!|beautifully decorated, extremely clean and neat. We slept beautifully!!| The next morning we signed out and Carol was amazingly gracious!| I will come here every time from now on.|A family owned business run with efficient pride!!!|Thank you all so much.|Nancy R. My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful stay at The Great Heron Inn!!! I can't say enough positive things about this place!!! Teena and her staff are friendly and they do such a great job making their guests feel welcome! Our room was huge, clean, and amazing. The location is perfect, too. Situated right on the Gulf of Mexico, you are merely steps away from experiencing one of the most beautiful, soft-sanded beaches in the area. The Gulf is clear and warm. If the beach isn't your thing, take a dip in their clean, sparkling pool and relax to the sounds of gentle waves just beyond the pool deck. Guests of this hotel are also treated to a front row seat to the most breathtaking sunsets you will ever see. Don't miss it! Not only are they a quick 2 minute walk to the bus stop, they are within easy walking/cycling distance of several great restaurants, a nice local brewery, and a few shops, including a well-stocked CVS. This adorable hotel is truly a gem nestled amongst the dunes in Indian Rocks Beach. Thank you, Teena! We hope to return next summer!

I can't say enough good things about this place. I called on Friday and Miss Teena was very sweet and we arranged for me and my best friend to come for a few days. The apartments are very clean, and spacious, with everything you need, and steps from the beach. Staff is very friendly, and they have their own mascot Harry. He loves getting his picture taken. And watching people fish. ( He is a heron). I will definitely be a repeat guest.

I've been coming here for 10 years and this is one of the best hotels I've ever visited. The property, while older, is well-maintained and the staff is always helpful. Teena and her crew love hospitality and always make me feel like I'm at my second home. You also get a direct beach access to Indian Rocks Beach, and it's walking distance to some great dining and nightlife at Crabby Bill's or Slyce. Parking is easy, too. Make this your base of operations for your Florida getaway!

After four rooms were booked one couple had to cancel, and received a full refund, another of us has to leave a day early, and that day's charge was removed from our bill! Our hosts could not have been more gracious, accommodating, and supportive. Because we have family living in Largo the location right on the beach just South of 688 is perfect! They have an outdoor shower and nice pool that's perfect for the occasional post ocean dip, and while the rooms have older furniture and decor everything is very clean and totally functional! There are several restaurants within walking distance, especially a great place for Cuban sandwiches! We have been staying at the Great Heron for decades, and will continue to do so.!
